Sales of this Design? – 3 sales so far :) / Baby Bull Production is something I created not that long ago. It’s a mixed media piece on canvas textured paper…...i did it in response to the chilled out cows at Mullumbimby, northern New South Wales, who seem to be very laid back, i suspect they are indulging in the ‘other’ kind of grass also….... they have this real chilled look about them, and I’ve never seen cows anywhere else that have this way about them. I put it in the Casino Art Exhibition and it was the only painting that sold, every year a male school teacher goes to that show, or so the legend goes…....and purchases a piece…...it was my lucky year. Tonight I was asked if I’d ever sold a painting in a gallery…well, yes, and at exhibitions and privately. To date I believe I have sold between 30 and 40 original paintings, which I am very proud of…..in the early days 2002 I was very prolific, things have slowed down a bit with my painting now, because i am much more deliberate and take a lot of time to imbue my paintings with layers and love and depth…..it is just how i have grown as an artist, it is nice to report that there is growth along the journey…(and sales lol)!!! Somebody also has a print of these cows and loves them very much from what I understand lol

Sales of this Design? – 2 sales so far :) Jack and Jill by Karin Taylor / you are viewing the original creation created from a roll of brown kraft paper / i will subsequently load another couple of versions to RED Bubble soon… and they will also be available as prints, cards and a specially crafted one for tshirts will be here soon too Jack and Jill – The Creative Process a) tear large ‘rips’ of brown kraft paper from the roll / in a frenzy..helps also rid one of general frustrations of life / b) grab a huge paint brush / c) discover lid of gesso is sealed shut, requires a hammer to / remove lid / d) bash gesso lid repeatedly on desk / e) discover gesso has been flung all over the studio floor due to small holes / caused from bashing the gesso / f) clean studio floor prior to doing anything else, as gesso dries fast / g) relax …. dip paintbrush in gesso and slather it all over the brown paper / strips in long horizontal strokes… most therapeutic time of / process…mindless brushwork / h) let the paper dry….and start thinking…hmmm what will i draw? / i) come up with a brilliant idea…. / j) try to draw brilliant idea many times, resulting in lots of screwed up brown / paper and wasted gesso / k) finally come up with brilliant design, oh yes.!! “Jack n Jill” Brilliant idea…but / they’ve all but grown up whilst ‘in situ’ . Jack now sporting a divinely / devilish goatee and Jill always the dreamer, now sporting a resemblance / to the flower children of the sixties, a favourite era of mine…..This also / works rather well becoz aswe all know, after Jack fell down and broke his / crown, he fixed it up with vinegar and brown paper…since Jack is drawn on / brown paper, he won’t have to go too far for a plaster / l) trace over the briliant design with a black texta / m) colour in the brilliant design with whatever’s handy and stick stuff on when / drawing fails completely and you don’t know what else to do..also…when / all else seems to fail resort to those old gum rubbers with star and flower / stampings i made an aeon ago…yep…stamp, stamp, stamp.. works well! / n) to make the bucket…i had stuffed it up completely….so with nothing to lose / i poured ink on paper towel, then cut towel into bucket shape and / stamped it… / o) i used pastels and coloured faber castell pencils plus a heap of charcoal / and some acrylic paint in the mix…. a messy and fun process / p) play with it in photoshop!! a lot!!! / / Mounted Print / Jack and Jill at Twilight Prints and Cards

Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / Flying Machine / by Karin Taylor / from the ‘Inspired Series’ / / Mixed Media / ink, chalk pastel, charcoal, acyrlic, mediums / silver, gold, bronze and rose metallic acrylics / adobe photoshop My most recent work, this piece was influenced by the ‘gliders’ in my family who have taken to the sky recently. My husband, my son and their friend Erich are all involved in a local gliding club…and always suggesting I paint an aeroplane lol I thought, there’s no way i can do that! / But i found a way, after lots of thinking on the subject to incorporate a sort of flying contraption i designed myself into this piece. My girl is onward bound and it’s semi-self portrait i guess you could say…altho most people don’t see the resemblance to me….she is a lot younger, perhaps how i would like to be thought of lol Also inspired by my lovely and ever patient friend Christine / a fabulous friend and textile artist, her threads and yarn and tactile things have affected me on an immense scale, so that all my work these days is imbued with these elements….although there is no actual wool or thread in the painting, i have used these as inspiration for her scarf and hair detail. The khaki overalls are what i wear when i’m painting, with a white singlet in summer, or a jumper in winter…...i am yet to find a hairdresser who could accomplish this hairstyle for me.. the little parrot represents conscience, a little voice that knows right from wrong….this is an idea loosely taken from a movie i saw a while ago ‘The Golden Compass’ I dedicate this painting to Christine, as she has listened to all my crazy ideas, and very carefully encourages me or points out things that may help, and i don’t know where i’d be without her…..thanx Chris :) Patchwork and patterns, repitition, daisies, journeys, serene expressions, genuity…..

This for you Terez , my lovely daughter , she died when she was nearly 15 …... Thank you my friends your comments and support mean a lot to me. I had this pain bottled up in me so so long… but I knew and hoped with time passing things will change and turn out good… I was right, things started to unfold last week and I could just see and feel it. Working with this wonderful model just inspired me and brought all those feelings up from my heart, bones and my most inner part. I loved every minutes of it and it gave me a wonderful peace of mind. / The original is 120cmX100cmx2cm , oil on canvas , SOLD !. / You can see this picture in a nice interior here / Hope you like it…? / / / /

Pearls represent the tears of the moon and remind us that life may not be easy and we all struggle. The lotus represents strength through love. The daisies are for simplicity. The bindi is for spiritual insight. The red sky at night is a sailor’s delight…for a red sky at night indicates smooth seas on the morrow! Included in the mix are moulding paste for the eggs, gold and bronze paint, silver thread, fabric, charcoal, ink, pastel and acrylic with a gloss varnish over the eggs. / There is a poem in the background in gold cursive handwriting, which reads: Hidden Treasure Golden eggs are not always easy to find / Sometimes they lay hidden in the pockets of our seams / Sometimes we have to look beyond the obvious to see / the beauty in others~ traits of kindness, compassion, nurture and / gentleness are not always obvious at first glance and / what one may perceive as a fault or weakness / may actually be a great strength. ABOUT MY EXHIBITION The woks exhibited represent the linkup of two artists, a photographer and a sculptor. Such an attempt to blend two spheres of art is really innovative and a bit unexpected. There had been few who were successful in such an attempt. Both authors, blending their art by the means of the photo art, are the winners. Sculpture, as such, is rather a static art, sometimes “performing” in a specific, sometimes artificial, environment. However, the means of the plastic photography, seemingly, make the sculptures movable, dynamic; they make you feel the sculptures are moving. They become alive, start moving and react both to the environment and the views captured by the photographer. I would like the viewers also note the colour solutions of the photos, aimed at the strengthening of the overall impression of the imagery. The original blend and overlapping of two arts let see the impressive plastic metaphors, giving birth to various associations. CLICK PHOTO IF YOU WANT VIEW
