Heart Series’ tshirt by Karin Taylor The original painting for this tshirt design was done using miixed media production on paper, ink, pastel, charcoal and acrylic. Pilgrimage is about our passage through life, the boat represents the vehicle by which we travel, the wise animal represents the voice of wisdom, the crown speaks of how special each individual is. Pearls represent the tears of the moon and remind us that life may not be easy and we all struggle. The daisies are for simplicity. / The bindi represents spiritual insight.

Just over 10 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. At the time I was young (er) with one small child. She was 2. I was on my own, and there was no way I was going to leave my baby girl on her own. She gave me reason to fight hard. At the time I was told all sorts of things, such as death, no more children etc etc. Sure, the medical field have knowledge, but they didn’t have knowledge of me. So, with their advice and my beliefs I struggled through a crappy time. I went through the medical procedures of surgery, chemo and radio, and my own path of complimentrary medicine. / I’m happy to tell you that since then I have had three more children and breast fed each (and I’ve had no re-occurence, nor died!) I think what annoyed me most was the evil shadow that cancer can create. I visualise cancer as some dark demon that we are all afraid of, and I just don’t think that’s right. So I think we should kick cancer’s ass. I think that instead of treating cancer as the king who takes our lives, I think we should treat it as some annoyance such as the common cold and tell it to get stuffed. I’m sick of cancer, and I’m sick of it making friends sick, worn out and glum and even dead, so this t- shirt/card is a way of telling cancer that it has no power over us and to simply get stuffed and go away. Perhaps if we unite in this thinking it will go away??

A digital piece done in Photoshop with an inspirational message. My fath is a great inspiration to me. It has helped me deal with my medical problems and my weight. I take great comfort in knowing that God loves me just the way I am. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that as well.
