Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / Midnight Blues is from a painting i did recently on Arches Aquarelle Paper 56×76cm, a mixed media production, utilising inks, pastels, acrylics, charcoals, found objects such as string and fabric….and the most beautiful gold paint which gives the guitar it’s lustre BOATS & BIRDS by Gregory and the Hawk If you be my star / I’ll be your sky / you can hide underneath me and come out at night / when I turn jet black and you show off your light / I live to let you shine / I live to let you shine but you can skyrocket away from me / and never come back if you find another galaxy / far from here with more room to fly / just leave me your stardust to remember you by if you be my boat / I’ll be your sea / a depth of pure blue just to probe curiosity / ebbing and flowing and pushed by a breeze / I live to make you free / I live to make you free but you can set sail to the west if you want to / and past the horizon till I can’t even see you / far from here where the beaches are wide / just leave me your wake to remember you by if you be my star / I’ll be your sky / you can hide underneath me and come out at night / when I turn jet black and you show off your light / I live to let you shine / I live to let you shine but you can skyrocket away from me / and never come back if you find another galaxy / far from here with more room to fly / just leave me your stardust to remember you by / stardust to remember you by Midnight Blues is from the Inspired Series by Karin Taylor, during the painting of this, i was strongly influenced by one of my favourite songs “Boats and Birds” by Gregory and the Hawke, as well as my favourite Australian artist, Brett Whitely, longing to capture something of the wonderful curves he created in his works. It has a dark and sombre feeling, much like how i was feeling at the time i created her. I used to laugh and carry on that my thoughts and my moods could ever be conveyed through a painting, and it was just silly that people reckoned they did so, but just look at me now….i cannot seem to prevent it happening these days!! lol…that’ll teach me to scoff :)

A new image taken just today of a single Dragonfly that found his way into the back window of my car; I don’t drive this vehicle much, as I recently purchased a newer model…..I saw him in the back window and he wasn’t moving….he turned out to be a very coorperative model for several shots; I hope you like them. I was in a hurry one afternoon, and on my way out to run some errands, opened up my front door, and found this unusual looking moth on the door frame. I started to keep going, then something made me stop, grab my camera and take a few pictures of it… I’m glad I did, as I discovered later after searching online, that this Luna Moth is quite rare to see one during the day, and they only live about a week, and are about as wide across as our hand….

monarch butterfly on flower with green background

I don’t often see monarch butterflies, so when I spotted this one at Hodges Gardens near Many, Louisiana, I employed my husband’s help in trying to get a good shot at it. Tommy stood guard at the upper level of the butterfly garden while I posted myself in the lower portion. Thanks to my husband’s keen eye, I finally relocated the elusive flutterer and got this photo of it to which I’ve applied some PS filters.

When I posted “For Mark, an American soldier, who gave his life in Iraq,” I didn’t realize that it would not print well as a card, so I’m adding this image of the same poem by Kim Graham and a different dragonfly photo to accommodate those who would like a copy of this in card size. 100% of proceeds from sales will go to the Mark W. Graham Foundation. According to the foundation’s official website, “The Mark W. Graham Foundation is a non-profit organization which provides support for young people of character and military families in crisis. It honors the legacy of Mark Graham, a fallen soldier whose strength of character and gift of service to his country are an inspiration to all who knew him. Mark was a Lafayette, La., native and his death opened the community’s eyes to the reality of war and the sacrifice soldiers make in their fight to keep our country free. He was married to Stephanie for a little more than a year when he died. Mark was 22 years old.
