This painting is watercolour on paper. I did this in response to a call for entries for an exhibition titled “Outback to Hill End” at the Royal Art Society, Sydney. We went, over Easter, to Hill End itself. It’s an old prospecting town, over the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. / We stayed two days, taking lots of photos and this painting came from a “gift”. The sun had dropped down low and the clouds were banked up in the East. Click! one moment and I had got it! And the next moment, the magic was gone. The sun went behind more clouds. In fact it was cloudy most of the time we were there and was disappointing in that way, because I love to paint the contrast of sun and shadow. But there was just enough sun to satisfy me, mostly morning and evening, and I may paint some more of this fascinating area. And…..............hardly a spot of water to be seen. Mind you, I did go down to the river where they used to pan for gold and got some shots in. Nothing I fancy painting yet though. Interestingly, there are now four exploratory mines there and it looks like they will be operational in the future, still plenty of gold there. Thank you once again for all the kind comments, faves and watches. See more of Freda’s works: / Boats / City / Fractals / Stillife / Figures / Landscape Freda’s website

A humble House Sparrow….. but one of the loveliest little creatures I know of.
Second in a series featuring the color blue…
Some churches simply have to greatest doors! I found this one with a vivid red door in Cape May, New-Jersey, USA. Simple hardware with a beautiful patina, polished with use, on a plain bright colourful door. Finished in 6th position of Top Ten in the WARM: Reds-Oranges-Yellows challenge of the Simple by Design Group on March 8, 2009 . That one was easy, as there were only 9 entries! ;-) / 1287 views on December 7, 2009 /

Some experiment with a mirror, water, waxflowers and calligraphers ink… oh and wrapping paper reflecting in the mirror. Haha, yeah it was kinda crazy…. Enjoy!
I’m experimenting using mirrors with my macro work lately… and the other day I found a bunch of sequins along with these tiny stars. So I put them on a mirror with glitter and reflected this sparkly bow in the mirror for the bokeh effect… hahaha.. it’s a little complicated and insane so it’s a little hard to explain lol. Anyway… enjoy!! This one just reminds me of the holidays.. so Happy Holidays too!
Right outside villages towns and cities… in the wonderful countryside Quebec province .. are these very beautiful stone houses dating way way back, & standing strong and have such beautiful gardens too ! I hope you enjoy this photograph & all my other art here.. ( taken with my Canon A70 compact )
We often have moose trimming our trees and bushes and walking past the house. This lovely bull moose appeared at the garage door and just kept walking closer. My husband snapped the photo with his D200, while I offered an olive branch. This is as it was from the RAW image, except for a slight crop of the vehicle to the right. Snow! Glorious Snow!! featured 4.30.09 – Thank you! I’ll pass the word to Howard Marsh, my mate-for life, I hope.

Wawatam Lighthouse at the entrance to the Marina in St. Ignace in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It stands at the end of an old railroad dock which was once used to load railroad cars onto a ferry to transport them between the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan. The city of St. Ignace has renamed he lighthouse after the 338-foot Chief Wawatam rail car ferry. It rises 52 feet in the air at the end of a newly constructed Huron Boardwalk and serves as a sentinel to the city’s marina. The beacon projects 13.2 miles over Lake Huron and will serve as a navigational aid to boaters. This lighthouse was acquired from the Monroe Michigan Welcome Center in 2004, was moved to St. Ignace in five sections, and went operational on August 20th, 2006.
