Other Christmas Cards and Art by Karin / / How many sales so far – 3 sales so far! / / / The Chinese Chop symbol with my initials was created by and comes courtesy of the lovely Keith Richardson / A Rainbow of Angels I drew ‘A Rainbow of Angels’ with a pencil over brown paper which had previously been painted with stripes of white gesso… I coloured it in with chalk pastels, coloured pencils and charcoal, and outlined it using black felt tip pens and charcoal After that we had some fun in Photoshop…and that’s when ‘A Rainbow of Angels’ came to life… This might make a cute Christmas card or tshirt for a special person or three :) / /

My new wolf friend seemed to like having his pictures taken – he stared “up close and personal” right into the lens. / Canvas Print / / Framed Print / Rainbow – Angel of Hope / To remind us there is always hope :) / Rainbow – Angel of Hope is created on brown paper / I use a range of media including pastels, acrylics, charcoal, markers / Rainbow was inspired by my love of Kokeshi Dolls (Japanese wooden dolls) and because rainbows have been on my mind a lot lately, I’ve been incorporating them into lots of my work I hope you like her :)

/ / / Christmas Rainbows Nativity is a mixed media production on brown paper / I used white acrylic gesso under, with a mix of chalk pastel, black marker and charcoal to create this little piece especially for Christmas 2008 You may notice that each character has a Heart… / Jesus’ heart is white – symbolic of his purity / Mary has a pink heart – symbolic of a mother’s gentleness and softness / Joseph’s heart is red – symbolic of father’s strength and reliability The idea of sending Rainbow Wishes for Christmas 2008 seemed appropriate in light of our global situation, the Rainbow stands for Hope or Promises made that they will be fulfilled…. I think we are all hoping for the fulfillment of the promises made to us by our governments, our leaders, our friends and family for PEACE and GOODWILL towards all men, regardless of race or creed….and not least of all God himself who spoke about rainbows being a sign of promise and hope, and also Jesus who’s birth it is we celebrate, mainly because of the hope his birth put in our hearts for true freedom from our chains (but if you are not a believer, the artwork still speaks of the promise of hope…..if not a believer in hope…then this one isn’t for you …but perhaps it will speak to someone’s heart and help spread a little hope for the future around )

The bridge reminds me of an emotion of solitude, which is not to be confused with loneliness. The former leads to an internal peace and being one with nature and oneself while the latter was a feeling of being forced to be alone, deprived of freedom and choice. I used to call this photo “Peaceful Bridge” until a young patient of mine (at the time she was nine years old) explored the difference between solitude and loneliness. When the image was presented to him as an illustration, he exclaimed, “Oh, solitude is peace, inner peace!” And the true title of the piece was born. This is Hope my Lurcher, on a snowy febuary day in 2007, she wasn’t that keen on the weather but did oblige me with this quirky shot. I have another Lurcher called Grace as well as Rubicon and Renegade the Ferrets who complete the team, Hope has the nose for finding quarry and Grace has the speed to fill my freezer. Here are the two dogs playing in the snow.

I saw this rusted frame of a bike on the borders of this wheat field, when I saw it it reminded me of the times I spent as a kid wheeling around my own bike with a hockey card in the spokes and the flag raised high on the back and I even had a streamer or two flapping in the wind off my handlebars. To me this old rusted frame symbolizes the wonderful experiences of a fantastic childhood full of laughter, smiles and fond memories, but time is our enemy and for many of us it fades our once cherished memories to distant glimmers that flicker by on rare occasions, and like this old rusted frame are soon forgotten and will eventually fade completely. / / This replaces a previous version of the image Lost & Found. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

The doe took a little time off from busy eating for the photo opportunity, although she didn’t want to give up the tasty colorful leaf. By now everyone who has ever seen my work knows that I’m absolutely “addicted” to develop a deep relationship and establish an intimate communication with mule deer (we don’t have a lot of white-tailed deer around here). One of my favorite times to take photographs is after a gentle summer’s rain. On this particular day it had rained overnight and I went outside as the sun was coming up. Armed with my macro lens and a star filter I captured this pretty raindrop on a dogwood leaf. The gift was the sunbeam in the background as the sun was rising above the trees.
