I’ve always loved Margaret Widdemer’s poem, “The Watcher.” I’ve coupled it with an image I took of a steeple of a very old church in Houston, Texas. I hope that those who have suffered the loss of a mother will find comfort in this photo. My mother is still alive and I am grateful for her; I created this image for those whose mothers are no longer with them and who suffer loneliness, especially during the holidays and on birthdays and anniversaries of death.

Sometimes an image must be driven / other times they drive themselves / such is true of this image / I did what I was told Based originally on my beautiful daughters own hands. I maybe wrong but I feel I am under going some form of spiritual evolution. I do hope you get the same feeling I do when you look at this piece / . / This was created from 4 layers of my daughters masked hands Two background layers. One with the grass and the other with the sky. / The grass has a gaussin blur applied to it.

Captured on an early morning at Denver’s historic Washington Park. Standing here taking in the scene, was just amazing, sheer serenity….so utterly quiet I didn’t even hear the Goose swimming by. Amazing that in such a large city, nature thrives, never knowing that this peace is surrounded by so many people. Title thanks to my husband… I was stumped and when I asked my husband for a suggestion for the title he said the daisies were natures beauty and shone amongst a gloomy winters day, which to him is the essence of winter.
