Sales of this Design? – 2 sales so far :) / ‘Friends Series’ card by Karin Taylor _Friends are siblings God forgot to give us.’ _- Unknown Sisters Fishing is a painting done on canvas textured paper. It was so much fun to paint this one. The inspiration for the stripes on the towels came from the wierdest idea. I was just staring one day at a set of brightly coloured corkboard pins at my eye level on the cupboard and the idea was born! Inspiration comes from all over the place!

100% of proceeds received from Redbubble in respect to sales of this item, will be donated to Bush Heritage Australia Photo of Gentoo Penguin taken at Neko Harbour, Antarctic mainland. The Gentoo Penguin is listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red list of Threatened Species Melting sea ice and overfishing have triggered a dangerously rapid decline in penguin populations on the Antarctic peninsula – a direct result of global warming, warns a new report from the WWF. Temperatures on the frozen continent are rising five times faster than the global average due to the unprecedented rate of climate change, pushing four species perilously close to extinction. Warmer temperatures are forcing penguins to raise their young on increasingly thinner and more precarious ice floes, while stronger winds mean many eggs and chicks are being blown away from their parents before they are able to survive on their own. The gentoo, chinstrap and adélie – along with the emperor, the largest penguin species in the world – are now struggling to survive as melting sea ice destroys nesting sites and reduces vital food sources, such as krill.

I missed a fantastic sunset, and an incredibly intense lightning storm. By the time I got to my chosen vantage point, I was left with the remnants of both. © Sara Lamond 2007. Sydney Harbour Bridge – a popular and much loved Sydney icon. So totally photogenic that people travel from far and wide to photograph it, to say they’ve seen it, walked on it, climbed it and driven over it. There is a working side to the bridge, too. It took 1400 men to build, 53,000 tonnes of steel, over 6 million hand driven rivets, 272,000 litres of paint just for the first 3 coats alone, it requires constant daily maintenance, it carries hundreds of trains each day, over 150,000 cars daily traverse it’s span and countless commuters, cyclists and tourists walk and cycle along the pedestrian and cycle ways. Celebrating what is still today an engineering feat, this is my tribute to our bridge.
