Taken in the bush near Alice Springs. Waiting for the sun to come up and saw this dead tree and just had to take a shot with all the colours behind it.

Other Christmas Cards and Art by Karin / / How many sales so far – 3 sales so far! / / / The Chinese Chop symbol with my initials was created by and comes courtesy of the lovely Keith Richardson / A Rainbow of Angels I drew ‘A Rainbow of Angels’ with a pencil over brown paper which had previously been painted with stripes of white gesso… I coloured it in with chalk pastels, coloured pencils and charcoal, and outlined it using black felt tip pens and charcoal After that we had some fun in Photoshop…and that’s when ‘A Rainbow of Angels’ came to life… This might make a cute Christmas card or tshirt for a special person or three :) / /

For the “God’s Signature” challenge. As soon as I read that there was to be a ‘God’s Signature’ challenge, this tree immediately came to mind. I call it the Cruciform Tree. It is a well-known tree in Malta. it is situated on the main road we refer to as ‘Rabat Road’. People sometimes light a candle or two, or place flowers at this extraordinary tree. For this picture, I lightened the ‘cruciform’ slightly so it would be more visible. No manipulations to the actual tree at all. This is a sculpture of nature. To me this truly is God’s signature! The below is a link to another image of this tree. My dear RB friends, I appreciate your comments greatly! I prefer to reciprocate them rather than thank you individually so please do not be offended by my lack of replies here. I shall be commenting on your work instead. Thank you all… Astrid x

/ / / Christmas Rainbows Nativity is a mixed media production on brown paper / I used white acrylic gesso under, with a mix of chalk pastel, black marker and charcoal to create this little piece especially for Christmas 2008 You may notice that each character has a Heart… / Jesus’ heart is white – symbolic of his purity / Mary has a pink heart – symbolic of a mother’s gentleness and softness / Joseph’s heart is red – symbolic of father’s strength and reliability The idea of sending Rainbow Wishes for Christmas 2008 seemed appropriate in light of our global situation, the Rainbow stands for Hope or Promises made that they will be fulfilled…. I think we are all hoping for the fulfillment of the promises made to us by our governments, our leaders, our friends and family for PEACE and GOODWILL towards all men, regardless of race or creed….and not least of all God himself who spoke about rainbows being a sign of promise and hope, and also Jesus who’s birth it is we celebrate, mainly because of the hope his birth put in our hearts for true freedom from our chains (but if you are not a believer, the artwork still speaks of the promise of hope…..if not a believer in hope…then this one isn’t for you …but perhaps it will speak to someone’s heart and help spread a little hope for the future around )

I love photographing in bad weather, there is just something about the drama of it all that amazes me, and this was of no exception. Garden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs is the location, a place which, is simply magical and unlike anywhere else on Earth…the light here is the best I have ever seen, and even when there is none, it still holds it own. Captured this past early spring, where at the higher elevations the clouds brought snow, but where I was at, it was rain. Processed in HDR with final output through PS. / Thoughts welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. / Following are the lyrics to the song Turn, Turn, Turn This group was a huge influence on me as a little girl. I adored Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and spirit. I seemed to identify with her, and they were the first group I remember loving….other songs I loved from The Seekers which would take me into a beautiful place, “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “A World of Our Own”, “The Carnival Is Over”, “Morningtown Ride”, “Georgy Girl” ),and “Emerald City” Turn! Turn! Turn! / originally written by Pete Seeger / The Byrds (cover by The Seekers later) To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to be born, a time to die / A time to plant, a time to reap / A time to kill, a time to heal / A time to laugh, a time to weep To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to build up,a time to break down / A time to dance, a time to mourn / A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time of love, a time of hate / A time of war, a time of peace / A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to gain, a time to lose / A time to rend, a time to sew / A time to love, a time to hate / A time for peace, I swear its not too late ‘Inspiration Series’ card by Karin Taylor “Seasons” is a mixed media production on thick water colour paper using ink pastel acrylic charcoal and texta, this portrayal is slightly different from the original piece in that I have added a blue background and highlights digitally. I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To give an indication of the sheer size and scale of this cloud mass, on the bottom right of this image there are some full-sized pine trees and that small white dot next to them is a huge lighthouse sitting on the end of an island. . . Digital Camera

My dog River posing for a portrait in the snow. She has ALWAYS liked her picture being taken since she barely opened her eyes at two weeks of age. Her litter mates ran around when the camera aimed at them but she stood in attention every time a photo opportunity showed up! :) I’m sure she’d be glad that I donate the proceed of the sale of her photos to Nature Canada as she loves woods and her deer friends as much as I do! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada.

St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe Sitting in the center of the town square in Santa Fe, New Mexico stands the St. Francis of Assisi Church. Built between the years of 1869-1886, it sits on an earlier site of a church built in 1626. This was a REALLY hard shotto pull off as the town center square is filled with people so I had to act quickly. I fired off 3 brackets handheld for the HDR and metered at the bricks on teh church…hoping this was going to work….I think it did. Thoughts most welcomed! / —John http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/2720872

The early morning sun streaming through the East window of our bedroom enhanced the warmth of this tender moment between my daughter and her father. She loved Saturday mornings because of the opportunity to snuggle up closer to her father when he didn’t have to leave for work. I relinquished my place in our bed to grab my camera and capture this special time. This picture was taken 10 years ago, and my little girl is now a teenager who still loves to crawl up into her daddy’s lap. On a spiritual note, I have spent many years trying to sort out the “character” of God… His presence in our lives, if He is demanding or compassionate? When I see this picture I understand the heart of a father towards his child and I can believe that I am cherished by our Father in Heaven. Some people believe there is no God. I can understand that too. But to borrow a quote from a favorite movie of mine, (Second Hand Lions) “Sometimes the thing we need most to believe in may or may not be true.” Whatever you choose to believe in, if it is good for your heart, then cling to it with all your might. A tender greeting for a Father’s Day card! / /

© C J Lewis Mixed media of photography and digital art created using PhotoPlus6. This art is also included in the Digital Collection #2 2009 Calendar which you can see Here Based on a spiritual experience when 13yrs old. In a dream I was taken in spirit to the top chamber of a pyramid (above the Kings Chamber) where I was placed on an alter and a vibrant white light came shooting down from the heavens through a pin hole in the top of the pyramid and spread over and through me while at the same time lights shot out of me…then all went calm and I woke up. Coldplay To me, Touched By The hand Of God means many things. God being the name I choose to use for the greater source energy that is within all and that we can access through our conscious awareness of being by which we can then connect to all creativity, transformation and knowledge for our life from within…the light that guides us by our conscious awareness of the gift of life we have been honoured to live. The light that guides from higher intelligence…to our intellect…our intuition…and gives us self control over the egoic mind, the old devil, that causes so much pain and sorrow not only in our personal life but also in this world. / MCN:C0793-EF08E-59B82
