Post work included hdr from a single hand held image, duplicated to +3, 0, -1 and -2 in Photoshop and HDR processed in Photomatix. Final image then Photoshopped with the Orton technique. Some dodging and burning followed. The Brighton Azalea Gardens in Brookeville, Maryland, is a member of the Maryland National Capitol Park and Planning Commission properties and was established in 1950. It is recognized as one of suburban Maryland’s springtime showcases, the gardens display more than 22,000 azaleas and other plants. Overlooks the Tridelphia Reservoir.

Title thanks to my husband… I was stumped and when I asked my husband for a suggestion for the title he said the daisies were natures beauty and shone amongst a gloomy winters day, which to him is the essence of winter. Perhaps the older girl is the little one’s mother or sister, perhaps she is sensei passing down instructions on how to tend the flowers. The little one wears a floral kimono in keeping with the theme. A pencil drawing on paper coloured digitally.

/ / / original pencil drawing ...stayed up very late drawing “Nature’s Child”... you know when it’s time for a baby to be born, i think it’s very similar with art… the inspiration just comes when it’s ready…and sometimes that means drawing til 3am like i did with this one. ...the drawing took about 3 hours, and the digital colouring took about 5 hours today. ...inspired by some fantastic eyes i’ve seen lately, (drawn by people on RB) and the dear little willy wagtails…they are so cheeky…they aren’t authentic in colour here, because they are always black and white with little markings above the eye…but i have put their essence into the work hopefully. I think this is my favourite so far :) /

The teapot topiary is also a fountain, you can see water pouring out of the spout and a sprinkler at the tippy top.. :) Inspiration / The inspiration came through my parents, who have a topiary teapot and a topiary sugar bowl in their own backyard, the also told me of an amazing topiary garden they visited in Tassie recently. / / Here is the “teapot topiary” in my parents’ backyard, they are sculpting teapots and sugar bowls….there are lots of fun things in my mum and dad’s garden !! Even the Cheshire Cat and Tinman have a spot in the sun there :)
