Today was my first day of the new term. I am very happy to meet all of my friends again after off school about a month. School is a school, you know that :) The best exciting for me is not really class and friends…hehe.. It is a garden of school. There has many type of flowers and trees. I love that. We have some rain in Thailand now, and some flowers bloom after rain and these little lilies are one of them. :)) / I used PENTEX K200D / 1/125 s, f/8 / /
© C J Lewis. Oils on stretched canvas 24”x 30” (61cm x 76cm) BEST VIEWED LARGE This is my depiction of the being of nature: man’s domination, in this case, over his dog, the rocks representing earth, looking down on the scene representing air, the blue ‘v’ shape with water running down it representing the uterus of woman who gives birth through the water’s of life, the dog & man both representing the fire of love through their existence and bond and if you look closely under his arm there is a slight depiction of the eye of Ra and a fish swimming up stream representing the spirit of the ALL. MAY 2009 FEATURED IN The Patchwork group / MCN:C9129-CADF1-A2DC5 The picture below is the original photograph I looked into and used to create what I saw within it … this painting. From ‘The Golden Collection’ artcards by Norval Arbogast Note: I just got a reproduction back, the color is outstanding. The brilliant color you see on screen is what you will get.
This shot was made for a contest on another web site, with a “Signs” theme. I wanted to do something different, out of the box. The idea of making signs to someone crossed my mind, and I searched for a few words on ASLPro , a visual dictionary for the American Sign Language. You can look for the words friend and computer to see what this is all about. I thought that it would be nice to illustrate what makes a community like this one so great: Computer Friends! This is a SINGLE SHOT, not a composite of multiple images. I set the camera on a tripod with the settings described below and a 10-second timer. I used a brooder lamp on one side (45° angle) with three sheets of white paper to diffuse the light. I then stepped in front of a dark background, all dressed in black, and made the signs slowly, stopping from 3 to 6 seconds every now and then to allow the image to expose enough and imprint as clearly as possible. I converted to B&W in Photoshop and tweaked levels, curves and contrast a bit. It’s not a sharp image, and I don’t think that this could have been possible because it’s very hard to remain utterly still for 6 seconds. This one is the best of the 25 shots I made. Focal length 35 mm / ISO-100 / Aperture f/18 / Shutter 20 sec. From the ‘Golden Collection’ by Norval Arbogast / This painting is my fun version of Vermeer’s ‘The Pearl’ I just got a reproduction back. Stunning. The color is just as brilliant as you see on screen. The blues will knock your eyes out. I’m pleased.
