This was one of the feral kittens born to feral parents (an orange tabby and and a grey striped tabby) – Oscar (the orange) was very friendly with me. He lost his mamma as a kitten (spent his kitten-hood in our back yard with the little striped tabby). I don’t know where they ‘stayed’, but they came to my backdoor every morning for water and food (they knew I was such a sucker). The following spring there were four new little faces – this photo was just one of the kittens. I fed all 6 of them all summer, but worried about them over the coming winter that was to come. In October we live-trapped them and took them to the shelter where, happily, they all found homes – the kittens were parceled out one at a time (that made me sad) and Oscar and Mama (that’s what we called her) went together to a farm. 75% of my profit from all sales of this card will be donated to the local animal shelter. Pearls represent the tears of the moon and remind us that life may not be easy and we all struggle. The lotus represents strength through love. The daisies are for simplicity. The bindi is for spiritual insight. The red sky at night is a sailor’s delight…for a red sky at night indicates smooth seas on the morrow! As a fisherman’s daughter, I have witnessed the strange phenomena of a red sky numerous times….always turns out to be calm on the water next day – a great indicator.. red skies are a great indicator of smooth sailing ahead / Customers are welcome to email enquiries to karintaylor@exemail.com.au

ABOUT MY EXHIBITION The woks exhibited represent the linkup of two artists, a photographer and a sculptor. Such an attempt to blend two spheres of art is really innovative and a bit unexpected. There had been few who were successful in such an attempt. Both authors, blending their art by the means of the photo art, are the winners. Sculpture, as such, is rather a static art, sometimes “performing” in a specific, sometimes artificial, environment. However, the means of the plastic photography, seemingly, make the sculptures movable, dynamic; they make you feel the sculptures are moving. They become alive, start moving and react both to the environment and the views captured by the photographer. I would like the viewers also note the colour solutions of the photos, aimed at the strengthening of the overall impression of the imagery. The original blend and overlapping of two arts let see the impressive plastic metaphors, giving birth to various associations. CLICK PHOTO IF YOU WANT VIEW /

  • Evil Eye Tree
    by Anita Donohoe

    US$3.42–US$91.20

In Cappadocia, a local vendor covered this old branch with evil eye beads. His shop sits on a hill above a village carved into the volcanic tuff of the region. The evil eye beads I remember from my time in Turkey had yellow in them, unlike most of the ones we saw during our journey. They became talismans to conquer what ancient civilizations feared, such as nighttime dark, storms, earthquakes and eclipses. The blue symbolizes the sky, the white is the aura of the moon, the yellow is the sun disc, and the black spot in the middle is that little bit of evil eating away at the sky or nibbling away at the sun. In Turkey, the belief is that evil eye beads ward off the effects of the “evil eye” and bounce back any curses or ill will. You will see an evil eye bead pinned to the clothing of an infant, hanging from the rear view mirror of a vehicle, decorating the harness of a horse, painted on the back of a big truck/lorry, placed over a doorway…

  • Heart of Gold
    by Karin Taylor

    US$4.70–US$125.40

Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / Heart of Gold by Neil Young I am thinking of you Paul, and sending all my love, thoughts and prayers while you are in hospital undergoing heart surgery…. oct 08 / Heart of Gold is a mixed media production on watercolour paper / and one of my most recent paintings The painting itself was inspired by a response to Sylvia, the character in Bryce Courtney’s novel who led the Children’s Crusades during medieval times. In my painting, Sylvia is on a quest, just as I am, always searching for a heart of gold. She has the key to unlocking goodness and kindness and truth hanging from her belt, and she carries a staff with a beautiful flower and wears a crown, symbolising that she is both shepherdess and a leader of her people. Her horse also wears a heart around his neck. They rely on one another for support and encouragement during difficult times.
