I stood in the snow behind the tripod, so quietly that one bird landed on my lens! What joy. I couldn’t actually say we bonded, but I was thrilled. I’ve had birds land on my hat, but never one that I could see so closely. Featured in Alaska ~ Beyond Your Dreams – Thank you! Shot in RAW. Slight curves adjustment, at the suggestion of Eivor. The snowfall made it necessary to bump up the ISO to 320. I tried ISO 640 at one point, but those looked a tad grainy. This is a male Common Redpoll in today’s snowfall. Note snowflake on his back. Our area has so far eluded Mt. Redoubt’s harsh volcanic particles, although Alaska Airlines and FedEx had to suspend all flights in and out yesterday. A black and white pastel on black acid free paper of the beautiful, cascading Horseshoe Waterfalls, Australia. What delight we felt when we first discovered this. It was located at the end of our street where we used to live and was only a 5 minute walk, that took us to a peaceful place where we could forget the world for a while. It is still only a 10 minute drive away. Waterfalls are usually geological formations resulting from water, often in the form of a stream flowing over an erosion-resistant rock that forms a nickpoint or sudden break in elevation. Whatever the description waterfalls are a natural wonder and there are some breathtaking ones all over the world. The waterfall drops its sparkling veil / covering its rock face leaving slippery trails / twinkling drops of water bursting in the light / its beauty never ending even at night! A loose watercolour painting with touches of acrylic on Arches paper. Imagine an evening stroll along a hidden trail as the sun is setting throwing its warm glow across the shady trees… I did and this is what I created. Nothing like a glorious night to motivate one for a walk! Evening Stroll The sky was alight to my delight / oh my look at those colours what a sight! / Let’s go for a stroll I said to my dog / the night is clear, no rain, no fog. The flowers were dancing their colours aglow / the tree branches swaying putting on a show / the night lit up we were bathed in light / Oh for sure this was a glorious night! Loose wet in wet watercolour on Arches paper 8×10”. I dropped the colours where I wanted and shaped the painting. My main aim was to create a landscape out of my mind using brilliant colours. Sundown The day is over the air is still / the sun is setting over the hill. / Rainbow colours fill the land / Created by the sun’s hand. The light is slowly falling / and the night is softly calling. / The pallet of colours will surely fade / and soon all will be covered in shade. Linda Callaghan This was painted to go with Twilight but was not sure whether to load but decided to today. FEATURED IN: BITS AND PIECES / CREATIVE CARDS
A little tattered round the edges, but still strong at heart, and beautiful. This classy Lady is “The Ambassador” of her country, talking to the audience, to the world about it…representing her nation with pride and dignity. / To emphasize the elegance of the painting, I added Gold everywhere where it seems to be yellow, and a fine, barely noticeable Silver in her dress, above her eye and her beads. / In real it is a very rich and sophisticated looking piece. Since I had some spare time today while everyone else in my family is doing a big clean up (done my spring cleaning already) I enjoyed creating this pencil drawing on paper, which I’ve enhanced digitally. A dreamy little decorative work that would enhance a child’s room and take them to other places in their dreams.
