The early morning sun streaming through the East window of our bedroom enhanced the warmth of this tender moment between my daughter and her father. She loved Saturday mornings because of the opportunity to snuggle up closer to her father when he didn’t have to leave for work. I relinquished my place in our bed to grab my camera and capture this special time. This picture was taken 10 years ago, and my little girl is now a teenager who still loves to crawl up into her daddy’s lap. On a spiritual note, I have spent many years trying to sort out the “character” of God… His presence in our lives, if He is demanding or compassionate? When I see this picture I understand the heart of a father towards his child and I can believe that I am cherished by our Father in Heaven. Some people believe there is no God. I can understand that too. But to borrow a quote from a favorite movie of mine, (Second Hand Lions) “Sometimes the thing we need most to believe in may or may not be true.” Whatever you choose to believe in, if it is good for your heart, then cling to it with all your might. A tender greeting for a Father’s Day card! / /

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) The largest Australian kingfisher, the kookaburra has a massive bill, a brown stripe through the eyes and over the crown, off-white head and underparts. It is mottled light blue on the wings and has brown bars on the tail. Its size is to 47cm. / Family members live in the same territory year-round and reinforce the boundaries at the beginning of the breeding season, calling together and awaiting the response of neighbours. Young stay with their parents for up to 4 years helping to the offspring. They hunt from a perch, staring at the ground and fluttering down to catch prey. / They breed from September to January and lay 1-4 eggs in a nest in a tree hollow or termite mound. The female and family helpers incubate the eggs and care for the young who fledge in about 5 weeks. / Their call is raucous laughing and their diet consists of reptiles, rodents, birds, insects and other invertebrates. / They inhabit Sclerophyll forests, woodlands and parks. High on windswept ridges in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in eastern California’s White Mountains live the planet’s oldest known living organisms – the ancient Bristlecone Pines (Pinus longaeva). Some of these trees were already growing when the Egyptians built the pyramids over 4000 years ago. The oldest known Bristlecone Pine is “Methuselah”. This gnarled and twisted tree is about 4,800 years old – and still able to reproduce. But only a few bristlecones have been able to grow to such incredibly old ages, survived ultraviolet rays, extreme cold, wind, and aridity in this harsh environment between the Eastern Sierra Nevada and Death Valley in an elevation between 10,000 and 11,000 feet (3,048 and 3,354 meters) above sea level. These old trees, the oldest living things on earth, 2800 years older than Christ, are now strictly protected by law and guarded carefully. Thank you for being my friend Card / Laminated Print / Please note: RedBubble automatically re-sharpens and adds contrast to uploaded images for web display. The male Eastern bluebird hovering protectively over his babes in the nesting box is a wonderful symbol of fatherhood and a great way to say Happy Father’s Dad to that special dad who has offered security and warmth to his family. (This photo was taken late in the afternoon as the sun was setting, and the bluebird was facing west with the day’s last light shining on him).
