The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site

We are like trees, with strong or thin roots, and wherever you are, you think about it… / In my case, my roots are high in the sky and deep in the Earth, acting in an neverending ballet, playing with clouds like still waves… / My mountains are Pyrénées… / And I went to his summit to embrace with my sight this wonderful ocean !

Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.

  • Cherry Creek Reservoir State Park, outside Denver, Colorado….it’s pretty amazing the tranquility one can find in nature so early on a summer’s morning….and here I sat…on the shoreline, tripod 1/2 in the water, 4ND and my CPL bolted to my 18-70….watching this whole scene play out.. Yeah, talk about a relaxing moment and just a nice time kicking back and unwinding….this was it! And yes that is a Pelican in the water…”a Pelican in Colorado???” you say? Yes, migratory birds….they come up all the way from South America and spend a few months here…wild huh? Why here where there is no Ocean is beyond me, but they call us home for awhile. I will say this—they are without a doubt the most skiddish of any bird I have ever seen….they didn’t cme within 200 feet of me, and when they saw me driving up in my car, from 500 feet away, they turncoated and made way fast lol Well hope ya all like it, let me know what ya think! —-John

  • My Father's Heart
    by Dawne Olson

    US$3.42–US$91.20

The early morning sun streaming through the East window of our bedroom enhanced the warmth of this tender moment between my daughter and her father. She loved Saturday mornings because of the opportunity to snuggle up closer to her father when he didn’t have to leave for work. I relinquished my place in our bed to grab my camera and capture this special time. This picture was taken 10 years ago, and my little girl is now a teenager who still loves to crawl up into her daddy’s lap. On a spiritual note, I have spent many years trying to sort out the “character” of God… His presence in our lives, if He is demanding or compassionate? When I see this picture I understand the heart of a father towards his child and I can believe that I am cherished by our Father in Heaven. Some people believe there is no God. I can understand that too. But to borrow a quote from a favorite movie of mine, (Second Hand Lions) “Sometimes the thing we need most to believe in may or may not be true.” Whatever you choose to believe in, if it is good for your heart, then cling to it with all your might. A tender greeting for a Father’s Day card! / /
