  • There’s something special about vintage fountain pens. Made of rare, expensive, or unique materials. Made with real care, attention to detail and craftsmanship – unlike many things today. Not only do you not throw the pen away when it runs out of ink, but the more you write, the better the pen adapts to your style of writing. These Esterbrook pens were crafted from cellulose acetate plastic in the late 1940’s, through the 50’s: A material rarely used today becuase of the expense, hazards, and time required to craft a writing instrument from it. Esterbrook pens have a somewhat cult following among pen collectors because of their longevity, and the fact that cellulose acetate construction means that on close inspection each pen has its own flaws and features. • Still more of the doll parts sub-collection. The feet and shoes are often one of the most interesting and detailed parts of an antique doll even though they are frequently covered by the dolls clothing. Bisque and porcelain dolls would often have painted on shoes or boots. The fancier their shoes the more valuable the doll. Colored boots and multiple shoe straps are particularly rare and much sought after. NOTE: No actual dolls have been harmed in the making of this photograph.- B.
