One of my favorite times to take photographs is after a gentle summer’s rain. On this particular day it had rained overnight and I went outside as the sun was coming up. Armed with my macro lens and a star filter I captured this pretty raindrop on a dogwood leaf. The gift was the sunbeam in the background as the sun was rising above the trees. Captured at the Denver Botanical Gardens, this flower really caught my eye, it just seemed so unique and so life like, as if it reaching forward to touch life. The time of day, the season of the year, the prevailing weather conditions all affect the existing light when I photograph birds in my yard. On this particular occasion, there was a golden glow which I really liked as the backdrop for this brilliant male cardinal so handsome in his suit of vermilion feathers.
