“Watching this pretty pony’s sweet face kept me enthralled for a very long time. His curiosity was amusing and he actually liked to pose for me. He kept me company in the golden afternoon hours, offering me his pretty profile and luxurious mane playing with the wind. I could capture many instances of his facial expressiveness. / / Here, the pony’s mane brushes the wind while a spark of sheer amber arises from the inquisitive eye. Luscious eyelashes in a fiery copper hue frame the sweet glance of this quiet friend. A true delight of natural beauty” / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. As the sun sets today, I pray a miracle finds my friend’s cousin, Cara. Miracles happen every day, Zoe. May this day’s lighting of the sky be the vigil that will bring it. With love and healing thoughts … / —Judi

Sadly, my lovely cousin Cara lost her short battle with deadly cancer today, just a month and a few days after her 46th birthday. Thank you everyone who sent well wishes to her. I know she appreciated the prayers… Cara Lee Iddings / June 14, 1962 – July 22, 2008 Explanation of my composite photo… Cara is in spiritual form in this image, as I know she has a strong and wonderful one. Her faithful cat, Senor is floating just above the water as cats are always with us on the Astral Plane, and he literally did walk on water in her life. The gull (on loan again from my good friend Rob) is symbolic of Cara’s entry into the light of heaven, which is right above the lovely bird…

I adopted Cara from the local Animal Protection League 2 years ago. She supposedly has at least some Maine coon cat in her, so I decided to give her a Maine related name. There are two towns in Maine for which I have fond memories, Old Orchard Beach and Carrabassett Vallley. Guess which town I chose to name her after…

“Set aglow in the afternoon golden light, the mane of this bay friend turned fiery red. Undulating gracefully on his neck, the sparkling colours were a feast to the eyes. The contrasting textures of coat and mane present a pretty pattern, always changing at every step this lovely equine friend makes.” / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “She lay quietly among other flowers. As if unaware of her intense beauty, she humbly shared a crowded stand in a farm. She whispered by my ear and I turned. My eyes were filled with her regal colours as my heart halted. Her glowing face nodded at me. / / I indulged myself in the contemplation of her sheer beauty, her intricate face, her lovely petals and her delicate patterns. I wondered whether she was missing the feeling of warm damp soil, the company of foliage and the caress of misty rain”. / / / During my travels in Thailand and Cambodia, I reveled in the extraordinary and fragile beauty of the Orchid. A large-scale illegal trade and other threats decimate their environment. / / Currently, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCNR) list 100 Orchid species in status from vulnerable to critically endangered. / / / Image © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-— / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “What a wonderful realm of patterns, colours, textures and hues the beautiful horse carries!. Nonchalantly trotting his striking beauty, this handsome individual is a pleasure to observe. / / From the bristly ear hairs to his soft velvety muzzle, from the silky cascading mane to the luxurious golden braids of his tail, he is a true delight. The bay coat is set ablaze in a fiery red during the warm afternoon hours. His sweet glance is ever inquiring while a pretty white stripe adorns his face.” / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “Inquisitive and friendly, my equine friend keeps me company in the late afternoon hours. He carries his enthralling beauty nonchalantly, swaying his silky coppery mane with grace. / / While casting a lovely glance upon me, his gorgeous eyelashes outlined a pretty silhouette against the clear sky” / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “Quietly lying by her barn, this pretty ewe made me stop my bicycle ride to pay her a visit. In a placid cool afternoon, she greeted me with a sweet glance and a calm disposition. Her face was beautiful and her eyes melted my heart. Surrounding a sea of amber and golden hues, her long white eyelashes framed surprisingly bright eyes. / / Taking close-ups on her adorable face, a rainbow of colours and patterns unveiled: the iris wore fine lines defining a gradient of rich earth colours. Her eyes sparked like jewels. When I bade her good-bye, she quietly turned her head towards me in what I took as a kind invitation to visit her once again. “ / / / Image © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-— / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens.
