  • CELBRATING MY SURVIVAL, 8 YEARS TODAY! 3RD MARCH

I AM CELEBRATING 8 YEARS OF LIVING AND WALKING THIS WAS WHAT I WAS DOING 8 YEARS AGO TODAY! it broke my spine in 5 places. I used to call it my ‘flying machine’ and lurve cruising @ 240kms per hour and muse at how everything seemed to go in slow motion and the earth would writhe beneath me. I want to share my celebration with you groovers. I just wanted to share my nasty little creation with you. It took seconds to do. and the rest of my life spent committed to understanding the series of convoluted invisible installations that were driven home that day. the 3rd march 2000. / Hello sister morphine…...alot of strange 3rd person journal entries….......a shift in thinking and screaming ! so yes! i am enjoying every tiny part of my life now, i love what i am doing with SHOOTERS GALLERY i have found a way to continue being creative and share it with others and the coolest people as well, Now, more than ever, i have no time for ego trippers, arrogant arseholes, time wasters, attention seekers or any other negative trip. I used to be tolerant (of stuff) but no longer….......my injuries have made me become as ferocious as a wounded tiger and use it in my art which has just morphed again and i love it. it doesnt look that bad this way up but head first up a rock wall airborne and land on the roof…....hurt. Since then i see my life and others in a completely different light, / kind of like what HDR does to images. i remember flying back into my body and waking up finding my body convulsing and forcing myself to survive. I was a single mum with a son 9 years old and a daughter 8 years old who were at school. I was in between life and death for a very long time. i kept leaving. it took an hour for me to be found and then 1/2 hour to get me out. in the next 7 years i spent trying to get back into my life, reconstructing tiny parts to rebuild it. i am still doing it, i lost absolutely everything. / i realised that some seeds take alot of pressure before they crack and new life that has been dormant for years finally comes into existence. that’s was how i made sense of it, and decided to stay.

Hell, I have been pulling my hair out today. I went shopping around 5.00, as I usually do on a Friday evening. The baby and I went around the store, collecting all the items we needed, then stopped at the sweetie counter for a little bag of goodies for being a good girl – then off back to the car to load the groceries. I placed her in her car seat, with her goodie bag, as I always do, then went to load the boot [trunk]. The wind blew the car door shut and she was in the car, with the bloody keys, and I was locked out. I didnt have a mobile with me, and there was nobody home here to ring, even if I had it. The recovery service I called [I borrowed a kind ladies mobile] said that they would be at least two hours, and the store managers were out in the car park to see what was happening. We told the baby to push the buttons on the keys, and bless her, she did – but only the lock button every time. We got her to try to open the doors, but she had deadlocked the car by pressing the lock button more than once, and the electric windows won’t open without the keys being in the ignition. I managed to get hold of a local garage and they came out. By the time they arrived, it was pouring with rain, dark and cold. Everyone ran for cover, the managers, the huge crowd that had accumulated, but I didnt have any oprion but to stay by the car to keep an eye on her – she got upset when the rain got heavy, and I got upset because she was upset, then a woman standing with me got upset because I did – and so on. We managed to coax her out of her seatbelt and directed her to my bag on the front seat – there was a chocolate bar in there, and she thought it was great to be allowed into Nanna’s bag for a change. We eventually broke into the car after two hours, and she could have a well earned cuddle. [the recovery service still hadnt arrived by this point, making their turn out time close on three hours] I had to stay put for a further half an hour to calm down before I could drive home. So, a well known supermarket chain – staff abandoned us, The recovery service I pay for could not get to us within a reasonable time, the emergency services did not deem a two year old stuck in a car as an energency, the garage charged me a fortune for breaking my BMW door, and all my frozen goods defrosted. All in all – a shitty day.

One year ago this New Year’s Eve there was a wedding on a property in Kenthurst, Sydney that stopped traffic. It was not a traditional wedding as neither the bride nor the groom conform to the “norm”...both love fast cars and anything that gives you a mad adrenaline rush. The Bride wore black… The bridesmaids were simply stunning in pink and silver… The Groom and Best Man were dashing in black and white… The Bride arrived in a cloud of smoke to the dulcet tones of Rammstein (from XXX the movie…note the number plate on the ute)... Some didn’t fully appreciate the art of burnouts… There were some rather unconventional guests… Our new family (might I add there was an addition that we only found out about the day before the wedding…I was 6 weeks pregnant with Ty Thomas!)... The happy couple… Whispering sweet nothings… The Grand Entrance to the tune of Eye of the Tiger... Let’s party…

Earlier this week, I sent in one of my images in the Challenge Cafe #21. The competition theme was “GREED”. / I just came home, and discovered that I had won! I feel honored and humbled at the same time. Thank you everyone who voted for “Highway Robbery.” It was on impulse that I decided to created this image in my driveway one morning, not knowing what people would think. But I had just came home after filling my gasoline tank, and I was enraged. This photo is the result…

  • Car crash...

You always think things like this only happen to somebody else. My poor car is dead… we’ve had her for nearly 10 years, barely ever let me down, and in the blink of an eye – BAM! And she was gone… and I was on my way home from DISNEYLAND too, of all places… what a way to finish celebrating a friend’s birthday dinner at the Happiest Place On Earth today… geez… Well, here’s what happened… I was in the slow lane, decreasing speed because traffic was building up, and alluva sudden I hear this loud screeching behind me. Before I can even look up my rearview mirrors to see what was up, I get hit from what felt like behind, although I later saw that I had been hit on the passenger’s side, and I got hit HARD. Thankfully I had my seatbelt on, so I didn’t fly into the steering wheel and break my face or anything. The minute I recovered from the initial impact, my first thought was “Crap! Oh _crap_… just pull over to the right as fast as you can before another car hits you, and a pileup ensues!” As soon as I looked up after getting hit, I saw another car that was hit, and she was driving a little ways ahead of me and already pulling over. I pulled over right behind her, which was a little complicated, because her back bumper had fallen off and underneath my car, which was making it a little hard to maneuver. We both stopped and stayed in our car for a few minutes. During those minutes, I was scared to get out… I didn’t want to open the door and potentially get hit by another vehicle that was trying to swerve away from the accident. Eventually, we both got out, asked each other if we were okay, and looked behind us. A white van was lying upside down about 20 feet behind us. “Oh God…” Me and the other girl who got hit walked over. Several other cars had stopped, one sheriff and two priests traveling together we talking to this woman who apparently was the driver and had just crawled out of her car. Amazingly, she seemed okay as well – not bleeding, no fractures or broken bones from what we could see, and she was already on the phone with her husband while we were explaining to the sheriff and two priests what had happened. We tried to ask the woman what happened, but it was hard, as she didn’t speak English quite so well… from what we could understand though, it seemed as if she had swerved to try to avoid hitting another car, and ended up hitting me and the other girl, Colleen, instead. Eventually more police showed up and questioned everyone on the scene. I got the time to walk back to my car and check just how badly I was hit… it sure as heck wasn’t pretty… The miracle in all this – NOBODY was hurt!!! Colleen was fine, albeit a little a shaken. I stepped out of the car completely okay, save for a small scrape where my elbow was on the armrest of my seat when I got hit. And the woman who hit us, as I said before, wasn’t even bleeding, hadn’t broken or scratched anything as far as we could see – her husband later picked her up and drove her home without anybody even needing to call an ambulance! My parents later picked me up, and we all went home thanking Jesus that no one had died, let alone gotten hurt… the pictures above are only the pictures of my car, but if you could have seen how much damage was done to the other two cars as well, you’d be all the more amazed that all three of us walked away from this without even a scratch! Something does seem a bit fishy to the police officers though. After inspecting the damage from all three cars, they think a fourth was involved, but if that was so, that fourth car didn’t stick around, so they’re suspecting a hit and run case here. If that’s so, keep that person in your prayers everyone, that s/he doesn’t do any further damage on the freeway… things like this really put life into perspective… you realize that all it takes is just a few horrible seconds for your life to get taken away from you… and for me to be spared like this… all I can do now is pray that God can give me enough goodness to not take for granted the fact that my mother still prays for me every time I walk out the front door to drive somewhere. / ___________ I want to thank You, Lord / For life and all that’s in it / Thank You for the day / And for the hour and for the minute / I know many are gone / I’m still living on / I want to thank You I went to sleep last night / And I arose with the dawn / I know that there are others / Who’re still sleeping on / They’ve gone away / You’ve let me stay / I want to thank You Some thought because they’d seen sunrise / They’d see it rise again / But death crept into their sleeping beds / And took them by the hand / Because of Your mercy / I have another day to live Let me humbly say / Thank You for this day / I want to thank You ~ Maya Angelou

A while ago I made a tee and it said ‘If it’s got tyres or testicles, you know you’re gonna have trouble…’ Well…I wish I’d bought one… I’ve been off for 3 weeks and I don’t plan, I’m a pretty spontaneous kind of chick. Tomorrow I have to go for a big security clearance interview for my new job and I need a passport photo. I HATE getting those things done so yes, I put it off until the last minute. / So…tonight, I get ready, make myself lok as presentable as I can and head off to the car to go and do the dreaded deed… / I get to the drive, start the car, drive off and my hazard lights decide to come on of their own accord…..and refuse to stop….... / Many drivers flashed their lights as if to say ‘stupid woman driver’s got her hazards on’...and I smiled back politely through clenched teeth. / So…I pull over and smile to myself…...I have a big day tomorrow, I need the car, the battery is probably going to be flat by morning and well…...what the hell…..shit happens. / This has happened before and they replaced the ECU unit when the car was under warranty – the warranty just expired… I smiled more….. / I got home and rang the AA – I don’t have Homestart, just roadside recovery so I pay £52 to have the patrol guy come to the house rather than drive the car a quarter of a mile and sit and wait…..sometimes patience isn’t a strong virtue of mine. / All the while my car is winking at me and playing headgames…...so I go in and have a coffee. 40 minutes later and the patrolman turns up….I go outside and guess what…..no hazard lights…..no winking…..no flashing….my car is fine…..I smiled even more…... / The patrolman was due to finish his shift so he took my ‘beloved’ car for a spin, parked it back up and went. / Now, a few months ago I would have been stressed to hell. Tonight I smiled and laughed…because basically, it’s called Sod’s Law….. / I still don’t have a passport photo but hell, I’ll deal with that one again tomorrow and hope my car doesn’t start winking at me again in the meantime…..;-) /

I was listening to Guns N Roses the other day while driving. Welcome to the Jungle is one of my traditional CDs for driving on Highway 355 into the city. Its so crazy out there that cranking this tune fulll tilt is imparative. One must jumpstart a strong offensive mindset and quick response time , imperative for survival on our insane multi- lane Chicago area highways. I dont know what part of this song I like best, its a classic and its all that good. So Im zipping along at about 90 surrounded by careening 18 wheelers, other autos of all makes, a few cycles and and those horrid SUVS that rumble along blocking my view of whats ahead. We are moving in a solid mass. After awhile on comes Sweet Child O Mine . Now its stuck in my mind… Mainly the hook line and guitar riff followed by the lines ‘Where do we go now?’ Their rendition of another classic from back in the day / Knocking on Heaven’s Door isnt so bad either…
