  • This is the Chrome grill from the auto in this series called Pinkie from my show called OldBoyToys a look at the autos of a collector. As you can see the grill back in the 1930 to 1970s were a work of art in its self often the reason a person would by a car was to have this grill as a symbol of who they were! It was quite striking to see something as bright and as bold come at you in the night blazing with full headlights reflecting off of its front bumper!

  • Image by photographer Glennis Siverson, www.glennishphotos.com. While driving from Florida to South Dakota, I opted to take some local highways rather than spend the entire trip on the interstates. This old truck was parked behind the Curtis Service Center in Lone Jack, MO, off highway 50. The property was full of wonderful rusted out wrecks of all makes and models and years, and I ended up spending over an hour there.

  • Part of my Rod’s & Relics calendar, based on my photo shoot in Springfield, MO on Route 66. A ‘55 Chevy BelAire leaving the Blue Swallow on Route 66. / The Blue Swallow Motel was built in 1939 by W. A. Huggins. It features a unique, personal shell design on the exterior stucco. Garages, a signature of motor courts of the era, are another unique characteristic of this motel. According to Huggins’ son, Phares, it was sold at a loss because of economic conditions at the onset of WWII. With gas and tire rationing in effect, people weren’t traveling as much. / The best known proprietor of the Blue Swallow was Lillian Redman, who acquired it in 1958.
