This weekend gone was the TargaWest Tarmac Rally here in Western Australia. I have previously photographed various rally events and this was the first for me for the tarmac rally. I had originally started shooting as I usually do with rallys – trying to capture the cars at a higher shutter speed. I quickly noticed that may work on gravel roads, but on tarmac the car appears very static and not so fast. So I dropped the shutter speed and panned to achieve a sense of speed and motion. Some were faster than others, but many opportunities allowed a good chance of success. I will be uploading some of my photographs soon if you care to check them out.
