Again, another shot from Paso Robles – “Portrait of a Hot Rod Couple” – no that’s not Chris Isaak in the front seat…. however, I think he might have spent just as much time on his hair! The amount of beautifully painted machines around the couple is jaw dropping for me…. I’m defintely coming back here next year!
Pickups and Thunderstorms I was really going for exposure and atmosphere here with this shot featuring a 60 Chevy Pickup. It just really had an air about it…...
Created in Paint Shop Pro…
I suppose you can say I have always been a sucker for old cars, especially Hotrods. There is something about the design and style of the years gone by, that todays designers in the automotive world have lost…the subtle curves of the body line, the way the trim fits along the body, and the overall composition and style….rolling sculpture. Elegance and style which is no longer created by the manufacturers but now recreated by those who spend many a late night out in the garage building a Kustom, wielding the torch, throwing the lead, and hammering the seams. Art it one of it’s most purest forms. Creativity personified. This is quite an older shot but remains one of my favorites, the color in this and the reflection caught my eye when I first captured it. I am not a huge fan of tri-year Chevy’s, but this ‘56 was just to good to pass up. I stumbled upon this scene earlier today while photographing The General Hospital. A portion of the parking lot has broken off into the ocean. / / I wouldn’t want to be a customer in this establishment… it seems they really know how to treat thier guests. / / In The Moment Competition Finalist / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / / VIEW MY GALLERIES HERE / / WILDLIFE / / / SHIPS BOATS & DORYS / / / SCENES OF NEWFOUNDLAND / / / BLACK WHITE & SEPIA / / / ARCHITECTURE / / / STILL LIFE / / / MY FAVORITES / / / MOST POPULAR / / / PEOPLE / / / ALL THINGS SINISTER / / / CHURCHES OF OLD / / / WINTER SCENES / / / TRAINS & TRACTORS / / / SELECTIVE COLORING SERIES / / /
My second rendition of this shot…..I will miss this place as it has now closed down…sad….at least I was able to capture it while I could. HDR and LucisArt used in processing John
Was looking over some more of my Queenscliff HRS photo’s and found this big fella. My memory isn’t the best but I’m sure it was a ‘57.
Same T shirt design as the original one I did on white background, but it looks better on a black shirt in my opinion. / In case you hadn’t guessed this is the Super-charger as seen on the much modified Australian Ford Falcon XB muscle car from the Mad Max films. Haven’t seen it? Well you’re missing out on a real treat. Go and rent it! The caption is the line from Jim Goose, Max’s best mate in the film.
I thought i’d have a go at some vector work. I wanted to keep it clean and simple in order to maximise it’s impact. The ‘32 ford is stuck in my mind at the moment. It’s such a minimal yet powerful piece of rolling sculpture.
This is a collaboration with Bruce Dickson. Bruce is a friend and was an important mentor of mine when we were both involved in the publishing and community arts scenes in Brisbane in the 1980s. Bruce now lives in Portland, Oregon, and sent me a couple of photos of this custom Studebaker which he took recently, inviting me to process them in photoshop. I love this angle; I hope you will as well…....... / / / ___ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. Sometime ago I found a few of these classic cars near the side of the road and recently I finally was in the area again, to get a few more shots. This is an HDR image.
This car is actually a friend of mines.
