While wandering around a multi storey car park in / Docklands, Melbourne, looking for shots, I looked / over the edge to see this site. I only had until the lights / turned green to capture this amazing colour quirk. / Nothing added and no colours changed, / seven red cars caught in time…. /

This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!

This series is of the car wrecks found littering the Desert around Alice Springs. Each car has it’s own Story, and resting place. / Looking more closely, they have their own personality reflecting the landscape where they lay in the twisted, torn, dented rusty abstracts of the panels.

Nearly 40 years ago a movie was released that over the years has become cult classic. A dodgy remake later and the original movie is now the stuff of film legend with great action sequences and stunts and some superb one-liners from a cracking cast. The stars of The Italian Job were three Mk1 Austin Mini Cooper S’s, in red, white and blue of course. $4 Million through a traffic jam, hang on a minute lads, I’ve gotta great idea …Lads…Lads…

The press loved the Mini on it’s launch in 1959, but sales were unimpressive, but when well known celebrities such as Paul McCartney and Twiggy became owners that the sales went through the roof. I’m pretty sure the Italian Job also had plenty to do with sales post 1969. The scene where the robbers’ Minis are chased through a sewer tunnel were filmed in the Sowe Valley Sewer Duplication system in the English city of Coventry.

An old 1930’s Mercedes Benz on exhibition at NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) in Melbourne. This car was a V8 had automatic transmission and went from 0 – 100kmph in only 16 seconds! haha how times change! Background desaturated in Photoshop and Gaussian Blur applied to background layer. She enjoys putting on all kinds of quirky caps and hats, she is never seen without them! A corolla winding its way down the Lake Mountain Road back towards Marysville in Victoria’s Yarra Ranges. Taken with my Canon 40D… finally! Processed in Adobe Photoshop CS and Lightroom 2. Sales 1 Matted Print Featured in the Transport group on the 15th of April 2009 On Saturday the 7th of February my family lost our home away from home at Marysville, as well as our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and our Abyssinian cat. My condolences go to anyone who also lost family, friends or property on this terrible weekend, and I know deep down that Marysville will be back and better than ever, in the near future… Click here for my other photos of cars! “Time Traveler” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An old farm “horse” (Chevrolet truck) that now spends its / days as a mobile fruit and vegetable stall on the side of / the road at Gumlu, a little town on a desolate / stretch of the highway between Bowen and Home Hill. / The Chevy serves its retirement days well displaying / luscious mangoes and firm ripe tomatoes on its canvas / covered tray tempting highway travelers to stop and / sample its succulent wares. / Still bright eyed, it leaves its roadside vigil each day at / dusk to meander its way back along a dusty track to its / owners nearby farm. / Hopefully the old Time Traveler will see many more / daily trips up and down memory lane so that others can / enjoy its presence while reminiscing of days gone by. “Gosh that takes me back… or is it forward? / That’s the trouble with time travel, you never / can tell.” / ~ Dr. Who Time Traveler was featured in the: Image Writing group – Jan 09
