Barking Owls are most enigmatic birds! / They have loads of personality and their name derives from their dog-like staccato calls. They also have another high-pitched call which is best described as a woman being strangled! / I’ve heard it once in 24 years of observing these birds and all I can say is that it is most disconcerting!

California Sea Lion Canon EOS 30D / Canon 70-200 mm at 2.8 IS L Series with 2X Extender / 400 mm / F/5.6 / 1/250 sec. / ISO Rating 100 Thi shot was taken at the Memphis Zoo. I wanted to focus on the detail of his expression during one of his trained behaviors. Although the focus is dead center, and not on thirds marks as I often strive for in my photography, I thought the composition worked well in this instance. I took this photo of two grizzly bears splashing in a pool at the Oklahoma City Zoo in late March 2009. I called the image “Grinning Grizzlies” because the pair looked like they were smiling at each other like a couple of kids having a good old time on a Sunday afternoon.

This is an image that I had taken in a series of images of which one was Titled as “Presenting Shadows”. Though Presenting Shadows is a tinted B&W. I found that the Dynamic range was rather strikingly desirable so I processed this and felt that “Setting a Mood” was an appropriate title. / I have recently purchased Adobe Lightroom2 and this is my first Finished work since installing it. I was hard pressed between purchasing this over Photoshop CS4 but the deciding factor weighed in heavy for this program as my convictions lead me to maintain a more Conservative nature. Light room will stay my boundaries for Post Editing but is proving to be a powerful tool as a Digital Dark Room and I am EXTREMELY happy with the results. Lightroom2 is extremely stream lined and it renders images quickly and has a endless ability to Organize my files and keep a very exhaustive and well defined database of info about each and every Image that I have. The Big Bonus Prize of the Software is that it has a Slide Show Feature which is far more lavish than anything I have seen outside of Custom Built out of my league Scripted Programs I guess in a Nut Shell I am Stoked!!!!!
