A major early snow storm blanketed the Cascade Mountains. A small lake nearly froze over by winter cold offers a bit of a reflection as Mt. Rainier looms in the background capped by a lenticular cloud cap. A pristine view one can linger on if you can stand the cold.

My husband, my son and their friend Erich are all involved in a local gliding club…and always suggesting I paint an aeroplane lol I thought, there’s no way i can do that! / But i found a way, after lots of thinking on the subject to incorporate a sort of flying contraption i designed myself into this piece. My girl is onward bound and it’s semi-self portrait i guess you could say…altho most people don’t see the resemblance to me….she is a lot younger, perhaps how i would like to be thought of lol Also inspired by my lovely and ever patient friend Christine / a fabulous friend and textile artist, her threads and yarn and tactile things have affected me on an immense scale, so that all my work these days is imbued with these elements….although there is no actual wool or thread in the painting, i have used these as inspiration for her scarf and hair detail. The khaki overalls are what i wear when i’m painting, with a white singlet in summer, or a jumper in winter…...i am yet to find a hairdresser who could accomplish this hairstyle for me.. the little parrot represents conscience, a little voice that knows right from wrong….this is an idea loosely taken from a movie i saw a while ago ‘The Golden Compass’ I dedicate this painting to Christine, as she has listened to all my crazy ideas, and very carefully encourages me or points out things that may help, and i don’t know where i’d be without her…..thanx Chris :) Patchwork and patterns, repitition, daisies, journeys, serene expressions, genuity…..

Wave Power has been featured in the Britain’s Coastline Group All my life the sea has held a fascination for me especially when it is rough like it was on this day in Portreath in Cornwall. The waves were smashing high over the harbour wall with a tremendous living power. But millions of years ago there was a forest here in Portreath before the sea covered it which was probably after the ice melted from the famous ice age. Many of the beasts living here would have been killed or evolved to live in the sea or to move inland. Evidence of the forest still can be found to this day if you swim out a little way from the harbour and dive down you will come across the petrified remains of it. The planet is forever spinning day in and day out, evolution moves with it. Things are born, they live, they die and in their death others feed so they may live on to start the process over and over again. It is our living planet, our home and we move onwards with it. It is always worth a visit to Portreath which is near to Redruth and also near to where I used to live in a village called Illogan. Portreath has great some of the best surfing next to Newquay of course and a small beach, cliff walks and the pasties here are the best around. She enjoys putting on all kinds of quirky caps and hats, she is never seen without them! As I walked into our living room, I saw my two sons sitting on the settee (couch) watching children’s television. Sitting there with a flat cap on, he looked as yorkshire as they come. I love the expression on his face, so full of wonder and excitement. This was the first time he sat and watched television with his brother. On again On again I love a good bum on a woman, it makes my day. / To me it is palpable proof of God’s existence, a posteriori. / Also I love breasts and arms and ankles, elbows, knees; / It’s the tongue, the tongue, the tongue on a woman that spoils the job for me. / Please understand I respect and admire the frailer sex / And I honour them every bit as much as the next misogynist. / But give some women the ghost of a chance to talk and thereupon / They go on again, on again, on again, on again, on again, on again, on. I fell in love with a woman with wonderful thighs and hips / And a sensational belly. I just never noticed her lips were always moving. / Only when we got to the altar and she had to say “I do” / And she folded her arms and gathered herself and took in a breath and I knew / She could have gone on again, on again, on again till the entire / Congregation passed out and the vicar passed on and the choirboys passed through puberty. / At the reception I gloomily noted her family’s jubilant mood, / Their maniacal laughter and their ghastly gratitude. She talks to me when I go for a shave or a sleep or a swim. / She talks to me on a Sunday when I go singing hymns and drinking heavily. / When I go mending my chimney pot she’s down there in the street, / And at ninety-five on my motorbike she’s on the pillion seat / Wittering on again, on again, on and again and again. / When I’m eating or drinking or reading or thinking or when I’m saying my rosary. / She will never stop talking to me; she is one of those women who / Will never use three or four words when a couple of thousand will easily do! She also talks without stopping to me in our bed of a night; / Throughout the sweetest of our intimate delights she never gives over. / Not even stopping while we go hammer and tongs towards the peak - / Except maybe for a sigh and a groan and one perfunctory shriek. / Then she goes on again, on again, on again on and I must / Assume that she has never noticed that she’s just been interrupted. / Totally unruffled she is, and as far as I can see / I might just as well have been posting a letter or stirring up the tea! She will not take a hint, not once she’s made a start. / I can yawn or belch or bleed or faint or fart – she’ll not drop a syllable. / I could stand in front of her grimly sharpening up an axe, / I could sprinkle her with paraffin, and ask her for a match - / She’d just go on again, on again, on again even more. / The hind leg of a donkey is peanuts for her, she can bore the balls off a buffalo. / “Mother of God,” I cried one day, “Oh, let your kingdom come / “And in the meantime, Mother, could you strike this bugger dumb?” Well, believe it or not, she appeared to me then and there: / The Blessed Virgin herself, in answer to my prayer, despite the vulgarity, / Shimmering softly, dressed in blue and holding up a hand. / I cocked a pious ear as the Mother of God began. / Well she went on again, on again, on again, on, and I / Will have to state how very much I sympathise with the rest of the family. / Give some women the ghost of a chance to talk and thereupon / They go on again, on again, on again, on again, / And again, and again, and again, and again / They will go on again, on again, on again, on again, on again, on again, on.
