This is a neck-craning view of a cross-section of the inside Rotunda, United States Capitol. I’ve had the privilege of visiting this very beautiful building a few times. I took this on the same day as The Oval Staircase. The lighting in there was excellent and really made parts of it stand out! The white figurine “sculpturing” is actually a painting.
Please view the larger version for better visual effect !!! / Rising between the picturesque waters of Lake Monona and Lake Mendota, the majestic granite structure of Wisconsin’s Capitol building glows like a beacon, accenting the Madison skyline. And the inside of this building is simply stunning as well. This is an HDR image, which I took almost a year ago, and finally had the chance to finish. Rising between the picturesque waters of Lake Monona and Lake Mendota, the majestic granite structure of the Madison State Capitol building in Wisconsin, glows like a beacon, accenting the Madison skyline. This is an HDR image, actually a re-work since the original was the first HDR image I ever created. I have learned a few things since then, hope you like it. Here is an image of the interior which is simply stunning: / My art with 1000+ views
Just 5 blocks from my apartment, this grand old building stands in the middle of a large park. The park is full of trees from around the world, brought here either as gifts or remembrances of historical events like the Civil War. Outside the back is a piece from one of the Twin Towers, linking my hometown to a place I’ve never been in a deeply moving manner. This shot with a slow shutter speed changed the look of the moon significantly: the image of the full moon in my gallery is this moon, this night, and within moments of this shot. I just don’t think it’s possible to get a good shot of this historic building in full darkness. While it’s lit up well, there are always spots that are either too bright or too dark and details don’t show well in either. Oh well, I love this old place and sooner or later someone is going to get all the vermin out of it so the rats can enjoy it in peace… :-D

The architecural detail on the inside of the Wisconsin State Capital was simply incredible. This is an HDR image, then converted to B&W. Somehow I really managed to get a 3-D effect out of this. For a view in color, click below: / To see an outside view of this buiding: /

One of the reasons I love Redbubble so much, is the inspiration that other artists give me. Some time ago my australian mate Michael Bermingham posted Old Yanchep Inn which to me is a timeless classic. Then Shelly Hiebert posted Sacred which is just a fantastic image. I always wanted to get a shot similar to both of those and digging through my archives back to 2007, I came across this image I took with my Nikon D50 in the Madison State Capitol building. A little HDR processing, converted to B&W, little noise reduction applied, some Dodge & Burn (which Kimberly Palmer first introduced me to) and this is what I came up with. Please also look at Michael’s and Shelly’s image, as well as Kimberly’s work.
Image was taken in Washington DC, at one of the many Metro stations. I love the contrast between items in motion and the stationary objects. Processed with Redynamix to give it a slight HDR feel. Taken with Nikon D50 and Nikkor 18-70mm lens.

Can’t quite remember why the US flag was at half-staff, when I took this shot back in 2007. Finally took the opportunity to work on this image of the US Capitol Building in Washington, DC. This is an HDR image, with some add’l post preocessing steps applied (light Orton effect & dodge & burn). Photo was made with a Nikon D50 and I have no idea what lens I used.

MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER Sydney was once the home of many Theatre Palaces, unfortunately through the years these grand old buildings gave way to so called “Progress”. Well at least a few survived such is the case with the Capitol Theatre in Sydney’s Haymarket district, and has had many purposes including a circus site. Here is one of the staircases beautifully resored, I walked past the theatres entrance and initially thought they would not let me in the foyer with a camera so i asked and this is the result. The Capitol reinvents the atmosphere of the 1930s with all its opulence, but incorporates modern elements with style and elegance. The Capitol features an exterior from 1892, when it was the new Belmore market building. The refurbished Capitol Theatre offers the public a unique theatre experience, as the only atmospheric cinema in the country restored and fully developed to a major lyric theatre and achieves the preservation of a vital piece of Australian theatre and architectural history Capitol Theatre: Equipment:Nikon D300 sigma 10-20mm lens / Technique:HDR, 5 bracketted images, handheld,Photomatix, capturenx and noise ninja

Potsdamer Platz (English: Potsdam Square) is an important public square and traffic intersection in the centre of Berlin, Germany, lying about one kilometre south of the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag (German Parliament Building), and close to the southeast corner of the Tiergarten park. It is named after the city of Potsdam, some 25 km to the south west, and marks the point where the old road from Potsdam passed through the city wall of Berlin at the Potsdam Gate. After developing within the space of little over a century from an intersection of rural thoroughfares into the most bustling traffic intersection in Europe, it was totally laid waste during World War II and then left desolate during the Cold War era when the Berlin Wall bisected its former location, but since the fall of the Wall it has risen again as a glittering new heart for the city and the most visible symbol of the new Berlin.
Berlin is “The biggest construction site in the world”... International investors and real estate sharks scent in Berlin big business. The opportunity is unique: Never before has an entire capitol been sold and built again. The prices are rising and rising – but the one billion projects are not making progress. The first speculation is out of money. A wave of bankruptcies threatens… This was a quote from “Spiegel” in 1992… Did something change since then?... Berlin is still a big construction site and we still live in a period of transition... We’ve just became accustomed to it… This photo was taken 2009 in Berlin Mitte, at the bridge near the Museumsinsel (Museum Island)...
