  • After shooting the early light of the morning down at Cape Schanck I thought I’d take a quick shot of the sun light reflecting off the large boulders in this little cove. I love the warm colours and shapes of wet boulders in the sun. If you ever go down to this place when the tied is high and the weather a little on the wild side, the massive waves that come crashing in to this little space throw these boulders around making an awesome rumbling sound. A must see if you live close enough to the Mornington Peninsula.

  • “This is my peaceful time, its calm and quiet, only the sound of my shutter breaks the crisp morning air.” ** / Some sharpening in Lightroom, thats all / /

  • Cape Patterson – Victorian Coastline..Stormy afternoon light.

  • Photo of Cape Otway Lighthouse, which is off the great Ocean Road in Victoria.

  • A bit of color and light over the odd rock formations known as the tesselated pavement along the Tasman PEninsula. The Tessellated Pavement is an inter-tidal rock platform – a common enough coastal landform. But here an unusual set of geological circumstances have resulted in a rare landform. The flat-lying siltstone was cracked by stresses in the Earth’s crust, roughly between 160 million years ago and 60 million years ago. The resulting cracks (joints) are seen as three main sets, one aligned to the north- northeast, a second to the east-northeast and the third to the north-northwest. This jointing, exaggerated by processes of erosion, has created the ‘tiled’ appearance. When seawater covers the rock platform, fragments of rock are carried away. Near the seaward edge of the platform, sand is the main cause of the erosion. When combined with wave action the erosional process causes ‘loaf’ or ‘pan’ formations.

  • Pulpit Rock at Cape Schank, Victoria, Australia.

  • Enjoying some late afternoon light. / Noordhoek and Kommetjie is on the Western side of the Cape peninsula, in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

  • Dawn this morning on my favorite island. I am visiting Cape Breton for the Celtic Colours International Festival. So far I have seen two wonderful shows, Pipers’ Ceilidh at St Ann’s Gaelic College with pipers from Scotland, Cape Breton, and Cuba and opening night show Common Ground: A Celtic Journey featuring Carlos Nunez from Spain as well as many musicians from Cape Breton, Scotland, Ireland, and Cuba (I guess there are celtic roots there too!). Tonight’s show is Anull gu Aiseag Mhira (Over to Mira Ferry). Inverness Gaelic Choir will be there from Scotland and Cape Breton’s own – Mary Jane Lamond, Wendy MacIsaac, Mairi Rankin, and Patrick Gillis. But the scenery….... is out of this world, and I know I can not do it justice!

  • I kept returning to this spot, night after night, sometimes it was raining or misty and other nights were simply ideal though a tad chilly … This spectacular natural rock arch, sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea over thousands of years is well worth visiting. Here you can also observe a colony of New Zealand Fur-seals as they feed, swim and laze on the shore platform below. If you cannot see them you can sure smell them ! • Taken at Cape Schanck, Victoria. Lawrence Norton (also on Redbubble) and I decided to head down to the cape for a sunrise shoot a few weeks back, and wouldn’t you know it, it was overcast! Not exactly what we had hoped for. But Lawrence in all his optimism, declared “The heavens WILL open up for us!” And sure enough it did, albeit just a little. We’re looking forward to seeing a lot more of these cold, windy, stormy mornings as winter approaches! Shot with a Nikon D200, 12-24mm lens @ 15mm, F/11, ISO 100, polarizer, tripod, cable release. 7 shot HDR plus 2 extra single shot tone mapped images. Merged/mapped in Photomatix, overall blending/levels/saturation/etc in Photoshop. BEST VIEWED LARGER
