  • The Indian Ocean at Cape Leeuwin – the most south westerly point of Australia and some 400+ kms south of Perth. Sony Alpha350 dslr / 18-70 lens with x4ND filter / Hand held (too windy and the rocks too slippery to risk putting it on a tripod)

  • Chatham LightHouse located in Chatham, MA across from the ocean. It’s a lovely Cape Cod area with great views of the ocean and the site of some terrible errosion that has taken place over the years from major storms we have had. Taken with a Canon XTI and wide angle lens 12-24. / f/8 / 1/250 exposure / ISO-100 / Focal length 34mm / post processing: Topez simplify, photoshop color, sharpness etc adjustments.

  • One of my favorite places in Victoria is the Cape Howe dune field, a magnificent stretch of coastline that marks the border between Victoria and NSW (Croajingolong/ Nadgee National Parks). That morning I was vainly trying to get to sleep debating whether I’d have more chance in succeeding if I kept warm in my bag and suppressed my need to pee or if I got up, froze but could then doze without the incessant pressure on my bladder. Like you wanna know this, but shut up its my photo memory not yours!! Anyway the debate itself was keeping me up, so eventually I succumbed to the inevitable. Inside the tent it looked pitch black but once I got out the dimmest glimmer of the coming dawn could be seen on the horizon. Since I was up anyway I decided to don gear and walk to the summit of the highest dunes in the field. From there I marveled at the way the white dunes progressively absorbed all the pre-dawn colours getting this shot just before the sun rose above the horizon. An amazing morning of photography that chewed through many rolls of film. For more pictures of this area check out my Croajingolong gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society

  • Cape Leeuwin, the most south westerly point of Australia and some 430 or so kms south of Perth is THE place to be with a camera when it is stormy. I have captured many almost identical scenes from this location in the waterwheel car park but none have shown such a threatening sky as this one. I couldn’t take this from the car because the waterwheel’s feeder trough was in the way so I had to risk being blown off my feet while I waited for the right moment to click the button. Amazingly the sky was lighter to the right and was close to providing a shaft of sunlight – but I couldn’t wait for that! / I don’t mind telling you that I was back in the car within a couple of seconds of taking this one! / We are right at the extreme southern end of the Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park and also at the end of the 110 km long Cape to Cape walking track. / Camera was Sony Alpha 350 dslr with 18-70 lens and nd filter / Hand held (tripod would have blown over) / f5.6
