I think this is a young Hare’s Foot Inkcap. There were other Inkcaps nearby, all very decomposed and gooey. This little fellow is about 1 inch high and was just poking through the leaf litter and twigs. Looks like the twigs have given him a parting as he pushed his way through. Tripod mounted camera, mirror lock up used with remote release. Thanks for looking, regards Nick
This bird * can remember where it hid food for at least 28 days after putting it in its hiding place * drops its body temperature at night by 10 to 12°C below daytime body temperature, to conserve energy * depletes much of its energy by feeding nestlings from six to 14 times an hour * has a very established hierarchy, or “pecking order” Measuring only 12 to 15 cm from bill-tip to tail-tip, the Black-capped Chickadee Poecile atricapilla is greenish-gray above with a white underside shading to light brownish buff along its flanks. Its long, dark-gray tail looks like a handle. A black cap, well drawn over sparkling eyes, covers its head from cone-like bill to nape, or back of the neck. Pure white cheek patches and a triangular black throat patch complete its most conspicuous markings. Because chickadees inhabit such a wide variety of climates and habitats, birds from different populations may vary somewhat in size and plumage. / (www.hww.ca) Photographed in Anola, Manitoba, Canada / / / Framed Print

This is the Damon on a T-shirt T-shirt In fact, this is the Damon on a T-shirt whilst wearing a T-shirt T-shirt. Marketing could be a problem! This is almost pure photo manipulation, from a photo that I took of him in late December or early January. It was a candid shot – he just tends to look like a dangerous thug lol Especially if you are about to eat his starchy side dish! Anyway, he’s my nephew and, and .. and . .I thought it was a wholly appropriate use for the picture, so there! (Now that I am putting in the tags: remind me, later, to make a series of t-shirts called Thug Dangerous! )

These 2 tiny mushrooms were just too small to get both in focus, even with a f16 at 5x zoom.. Anything less, and they were just too small.. About 2mm wide across the cap, I was chasing a little ground spider I wanted to capture, when I found these. Even the water drops from the humidity of the rainforest were tiny :) Found these on the trail to Winterbrook Falls, which we couldn’t get to after a 2 hour walk, due to flooding. Tasmania, Australia. Canon 5D Mk II, 65mm, 5x. Available Large and best viewed large :)
