  • Dead Horse Point in Canyonlands Natl. Park, Utah. Enjoy.

  • A commonly photographed subject in Canyonlands National Park in Utah. / At sunrise, light briefly illumitates the underside of this arch. A beautifull place to watch the sunrise and grab a few shots. Enjoy! /

  • So very lucky to have gotten this shot. My partner and I drove to dead horse point in near white-out conditions and moments before the sunset the storm broke and we ran out of the truck and began shooting. Truelly a spectaclur overview. • The warm light of a Cold November Dawn illuminates the sandstone of Canyonlands National Park and Mesa Arch with the La Sal Mountains hiding in the distance.

  • Light display from the Green River Overlook in Canyonlands National Park, Utah. Note the aura of light backighting the features. I would believe this is caused by reflected light off dust in the air. Added a strange touch. Thanks for lookin’ /

  • Canyonlands NP Utah. This is Mesa Arch which faces East and catches reflected light from below. My favorite part of this is the washboard lady. Can you see her. /

  • I was unprepared for the absolute beauty of this park. We added this destination at the end of already long vacation and only budgeted an afternoon. We will certainly return when we have more time to do it justice. I think what I loved most, was the feeling of solitude here. This park is so out of the way, the throngs of visitors just aren’t here and it feels very intimate, even with the vastness that surrouds you. This was taken from the Green River Overlook, Canyonlands National Park, Utah, USA

  • Canyonlands At Dusk.

  • Devils Kitchen in Canyonlands.

  • This is a very popular spot for photographers in Canyonlands National Park, Utah. I’m very thankful that I got a chance to be there early one morning in May 2008. Fascinating to see how the glow and the light changed while the sun was getting up. / Nikon D80, 18-135 mm lens 640 views, Nov 28, 2009

  • View over Colorado River, taken from Dead Horse Point State Park in Utah. There are different stories behind this strange name for a park. It was a natural place for a corral, easy to fence off, and with the steep cliff, nowhere else for the horses to go. One story tells that some horses were left there, for some reason, and died of thirst, with the sight of Colorado River 2,000 feet below. / You also get a nice view over parts of Canyonlands National Park from here. / Taken on May 7, 2008, in evening light. / Nikon D80, 18-135 mm lens / f/13, 1/60 sec, ISO 800, focal length 28 mm

  • Morning at Shafer trail overlook in Canyonlands National Park, Utah. The trail is a road that here climbs along the side of the cliffs. I prefer to enjoy the view from the overlook, instead of driving down or up. / Nikon D80, 18-135 mm lens / f/36, 1/13 sec, ISO 200, focal length 66 mm

  • It was freezing with some snow on the ground when we hiked to Mesa Arch in November 2008. I was so excited to get there I forgot how cold I was. I was overwhelmed by the view. I wish I would have taken more photographs! In March 2009, this photograph was featured in the group, “Style! Class! Elegance! Excellence!”

  • I found this tree at the Green River Overlook, in Canyonlands National Park, Utah. I try to remember to look around, and see what other options there are, while I’m out looking for the grand views. / Nikon D80, 18-135 mm lens / f/11, 1/40 sec, ISO 200, focal length 70 mm

  • Yes, I’ve been traveling again. To new and wondrous places. This area is filled with winds and water to wear the canyons. You don’t want to be there during a storm. You see the canyon? We would no longer exist without maximum cover from the elements. It sure is pretty though. :o) Created in Incendia. Postwork in Photoshop. Featured in: / Group Incendia Oct 2009

  • There’s so much to discover in the area around Moab, and this was a new location to me this trip. Canyonlands National Park, Utah. / Nikon D80, f/22, 0.8 sec, ISO 100, focal length 22 mm

  • Mesa Arch, in Canyonlands National Park, Utah, faces east and is a perfect location for a dramatic sunrise image. The clouds blocked the horizon at sunrise, but my patience was rewarded when the sun suddenly broke through a small gap in the clouds for a brief moment.

  • Mesa Arch, Canyonlands NP, Utah, USA. Utah has an amazing landscape, there is so much to see, very photogenic with all that red rock, especially viewed against a very blue sky ! (I like it best when there are a few clouds as well though !) This Arch is reached along a rocky trail, and is very impressive, as it perfectly frames the view beyond. / We did quite a few of the trails in Canyonlands and Arches, and found the very dry going underfoot an absolute dream, since we are more used to having to play ‘dodge the bog’ here in super-wet Scotland ! Shot on Fuji Velvia, around seven years ago. I scanned it on to my PC with my Nikon Coolscan VED, and tidied up a bit of ‘dust’ in Photoshop. I also beefed up the red colour for more impact.
