  • Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States. It is located slightly downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, about four miles or 6 km south of Page. Accessible via a 3⁄4-mile (1.2 km) hike from U.S. Route 89, it can be viewed from the steep cliff above, forming a spectacular vista. / This image is actually made of 4 pictures taken with my Canon 20D – 17-40mm L lens and stitched together to create this panoramic

  • Lake Powell - taken inside the Glen Canyon National Park, Arizona -USA

  • I had to go back and take another shot of this little waterfall while the yellow Aspen leaves were still reflecting off the water. I usually don’t like taking photos of waterfalls unless it’s an overcast day but this time a sunny day worked in my favor. This little waterfall is in a hard to get to area of Cheyenne Canyon, which is near the famous Seven Falls, and Helen Hunt Falls in Colorado Springs. Canon XTi f/22 18mm(18-55mm) 13 secs. * /

  • A few miles passed Tortilla Flats, which is outside of Apache Junction, Arizona, this wonderful little oasis pops into view, part of Salt River. Although it is nearly Christmas, the vibrant yellow foliage remains. / Shot with Olympus Stylus 720SW auto, handheld.

  • Hardy Falls, Hardy Box Canyon. In south central Idaho there is a region around Hagerman where many hundreds of springs emrge from the earth after flowing for hundreds of years from there source in the Lost River Range far to the north east. Many are well known and contained in State Parks. This one is now in the state park system but is little known to any but the locals of this rural area. It is the 11th largest spring in the lower 48 states and is a temperate mix of cold and hot spring water making it a true gem in an otherwise stark desert landscape. / Nikon D300, 18-200mm Vr

The Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area is the only developed campground you will find on the Arizona Strip. Whether you are having a picnic, or spending the night, don’t neglect to hike the short trails leading to the Virgin River, and to a hilltop site where geology and history are explained. • Beautiful travertine falls are just a ten mile hike into the Grand Canyon.

  • Taken in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA. Pretty much a tourist snapshot of the Falls, which I thought I would share with you ! / A rather crowded place, justifiably so, who wouldn’t want to see this sight ? The Canyon has some amazing colours, and I found the best time was towards evening to be viewed at it’s best. The vertiginous slopes are very loose and crumbly, and I wondered how those trees maintain their perilous foothold !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polariser, tripod, f22, 1/3 sec, iso 100, auto wb, RAW file processed in PS CS3, levels/curves/selective colour adjustments.
