A reflection in the pool of water at the end of Cathedral Gorge in Purnululu National Park, Western Australia. The reflection shows part of the steep orange-colored rock walls leading into the gorge. The ripples were the result of tossing a small stone into the water. [Wikipedia entry] / Copyright © 2007 Brian W. Schaller – All rights reserved. Lamoille Canyon, Nevada / May 13, 2009 This was a shot that almost didn’t happen as I stopped to take “Far Away” and then, following advice I’ve read, turned around to see what was behind me. I loved the lines of the snow against the mountain slope.
This road is so curvy that I once followed a set of taillights for several miles before I realized that they were my own taillights.

Gullfoss is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. The wide Hvítá rushes southward. About a kilometer above the falls it turns sharply to the left and flows down into a wide curved three-step "staircase" and then abruptly plunges in two stages (11 m and 21 m) into a crevice 32 m (105 ft) deep. The crevice, about 20 m (60 ft) wide, and 2.5 km in length, is at right angles to the flow of the river. The average amount of water running over this waterfall is 140 m³/s in the summertime and 80 m³/s in the wintertime. The highest flood measured was 2000 m³/s. Camera: Nikon D80

A view from the bridge over the stream in the Uinta Canyon in Utah.
Canyonlands is a national park in Utah which has a wide variety of scenery. Although you can drive round and through the park it is not until you fly over it that you realise just how beautiful and varied it is.
We were flying over Zambia looking into Zimbabwe when I took this photo. The bridge and the river are the borders of the two countries. The effect of the river on the Earth is very evident.
