Antelope Canyon. This is actually flopped on its side because I like the wave feel it creates this way.

Scenic Byway 12 is one of the most scenic byways in the USA and has been for years. It starts at Red Canyon, just before Bryce Canyon and makes its way over Boulder Mountain and down into Capitol Reef National Park. As you head down the mountain, you will find a wonderland of trees dotting the hillsides and mountains such as colorful aspens, pines, spruce, and fir. The mid elevation provides pinyon pine and juniper. This photograph was taken near the Larb Hollow Overlook in the middle of the fall change. I have spent a great deal of time along this road and for anyone planning a trip, see some of the places to stop by and photograph below. Many of these little towns will have dirt or off roads which will lead you into canyons, slot canyons, and amazing back country scenery. For serious photographers you should plan on several days through this wilderness! Red Canyon – vermillion-colored rock formations and Ponderosa pines. / Cannonville – the gateway to Kodachrome Basin State Park. / Escalante – Devil’s Garden, Willow and Soda Gulch, and Hole-in-the-Rock. Keep a lookout for The Burr Trail, Hell’s Backbone, and Smokey Mountain roads. / Boulder – Anasazi Indian Village State Park and the Burr Trail Scenic Backway. / Larb Hollow Overlook – Waterpocket Fold in Capitol Reef National Park and the Henry Mountains. / Fish Lake National Forest – Fish Lake (don’t miss this lake!) / Capitol Reef National Park – bright colored cliffs, natural bridges, domes and stone arches, and the fruit orchards.
My wife had cordially begun the hike back, allowing me to linger at The Wave. Looking over the shoulder of Wave, the darkening distance convinced me, that I too must leave this location – and the moment. March 3, 2009 ISO200 1/125 F11 Nikon D-80, / AF-S Nikkor 18-135mm, @18mm

Taken in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, USA. Bryce is so amazing, all those rock pinnacles thrusting upwards from the deep canyon, with such amazing colours, and some of them look like they are candy coated ! I got very lucky here, the past few days around Bryce had been real stormy, and the park was closed the day before ! Just a matter of setting up the tripod and waiting for the ‘right’ moment ! It snowed later on in the day ! This was taken on a Ricoh KR10 super, on Fuji Velvia slide film, asa 50. Probably f22, I can’t be sure. I scanned the slide with my Nikon Coolscan VED, and edited in PS CS3, a little tidying with the spot removal tool was necessary, and a little reduction of ‘noise’.
