  • This was a early snow and the leaves had not dropped as yet so all of the snow (and it was a heavy snow) ended up bending the trees over and breaking many limbs. It was, however, a beautiful scene, no matter where you looked.

  • You won’t get straight growing trees, flat laying logs, or canyon walls that don’t lean over. The soil is sandy here and many trees grow on a 30 to 45 degree angle until a drenching rain or hard wind knocks them over. The most ominous thing here is the canyon walls. They lean and hover over your head. There are broken walls and large rocks and boulders all over the park where rocks have broken off away from a canyon wall. If that happens while you are standing next to it; you’re done. You’re dead. / The amazing area adjacent to Ottawa Canyon.

  • At the entrance to Owl Canyon, she gazes at the glowing light caressing the trees. Taken at Owl Canyon in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois.
