A backlit waterfall in the very scenic Emerald Pools area of Zion National Park in Utah, This image was captured while hiking in April of 2008 and a park ranger informed me that the falls were flowing as heavily as he had seen in many years. An acrylic 11” x 16” painting of an ancient Cycad (Macrozamia) set in the Garden of Eden at Kings Canyon located in the Northern Territory of Australia. This Cycad is 400 years old and grows in a lush 270m chasm in a lost world of amazing rock formation which is all that remains of a vanished ecosystem. It is known as the Lost City contrived from bee hive domes of barnished red stone. Some of the Cycads found here date back to the time of the dinosaurs.

Believe it or not, this is not a “fantasy” image, created in a computer. This is a real photograph of a very real place! This is Rainbow Falls, in Watkins Glen State Park, located in upstate New York at the lower end of Seneca Lake. It is one of the most unbelievable places I have ever seen! I thank God and NY State for this most beautiful place on earth! Lush green ground vegetation and beautiful trees punctuate the enormous rock cliffs and the numerous waterfalls. The sound of flowing water is like natures music that accompanies you throughout your hike in the gorge. This photograph was captured with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 10D DSLR body. The aperture was f/4, shutter speed 1/15th sec at 40mm focal length. The camera & Lens were mounted on a Manfrotto tripod with a Manfrotto “joystick” ball head. A remote shutter release was used to minimize movement. No flash. Your comments are always welcome! Taken in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA. Pretty much a tourist snapshot of the Falls, which I thought I would share with you ! / A rather crowded place, justifiably so, who wouldn’t want to see this sight ? The Canyon has some amazing colours, and I found the best time was towards evening to be viewed at it’s best. The vertiginous slopes are very loose and crumbly, and I wondered how those trees maintain their perilous foothold !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polariser, tripod, f22, 1/3 sec, iso 100, auto wb, RAW file processed in PS CS3, levels/curves/selective colour adjustments.
