Acrylic on canvas 70×50 cm / 2005 (original available) I have a fascination for painting with lines…it starts with one…then another and more…and sometimes I have only a small idea of what it will be….others it’s more preconceived…but along the way it’s amazing to watch these lines form into something tangible…it reminds me of life and how things join and connect to make more and more each day a life wave / in and out / out and in it rolls / in to the shore it drags / out to sea turbulent days / made of Grey / calm night / full moon shining constant motion / constant feeling life wave / take me away

I finally got to paint this from my digital manipulation, Don’t Give Up Searching . I’m so pleased with the result. I used a few different textures and oil paint and made the eye brown rather then blue so that the image was unified in pallet to suit a college project so that I could paint this particular piece without abandoning duty. / UPDATE- / In 2008 this painting was STOLEN. / It was being displayed in Bentley Pines Restaurant with a group of other art from fellow students. toward the end of the year the restaurant went though refurbishments and stored the works in a disabled toilets :/ we were asked to collect the work but this painting had already gone before it could be collected. Ive contacted all the people in charge and been forwarded around like a telstra customer on hold and still haven’t gotten it back. :(

This for you Terez , my lovely daughter , she died when she was nearly 15 …... Thank you my friends your comments and support mean a lot to me. I had this pain bottled up in me so so long… but I knew and hoped with time passing things will change and turn out good… I was right, things started to unfold last week and I could just see and feel it. Working with this wonderful model just inspired me and brought all those feelings up from my heart, bones and my most inner part. Memories. / All I behold now you have gone, / besides photographs and diaries. / I stare at you and you are there, / besides me once more. Turning over, / another page lets me slowly learn / to accept this new place in time / where I find myself surrounded / by loneliness and sorrow. This is not, / of course how you would want me to be. / Were you with me now you would hold me, / stroke my face and comfort me. / Loving me, happily. Together, / we have shared these memories, / so many times, turning over, / those beautiful pages of times / roaming through contours of life. I recollect, / how we walked valleys and streams, / where we played, picniced and slept. / Turning over the page you stay with me, / through the treasures we have shared. Now at night / when I’m lonely, in those early cold hours, / turning over I’ll remember and cherish / those beautiful gifts given so freely; / and thank God for the time that you lived. / / /

In the bestiary there’s also a garden. It’s walled off though, so the beasts can’t trample it! I loved painting the undulating fin shapes of this piece, so I had to do another. 15×30cm, watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte, iridescent pigments and copper leaf on canvas. In this one you can see the shiny copper:

These are actually not poplar trees but the nesting colonies of the sociable weavers in the Kalahari desert. The weaver birds build their nests in high trees or in this case man made poles. Painting by Dorina Costras / Acrylic on canvas / 54/58 cm / Original for sale __________ “The leaves grown dark / By the autumn wind fall / Cover the ground, / Cover your body, / The wrapping of your being / That hides your true ego. / The warm dew of your eyes flows, / Nothing is there to wait for her, / It gets lost in the void, / Nothing needs their torpor. / Glitter in the sun / That passes through your body / And immerses it in candid dazzle, / The night is coming, the Orient is dancing, / Whirling in his veils, voluptuous dance / Wraps the world. / .And the wood that contains you, / Oh my goddess. And all is mystery, / Possible enigma, incomprehensible fear.” Gothica – The Pure Nymph lyrics
