This is an oil painting done after the smog in Los Angeles reached critical mass in the late 70’s. The sky looked like brown soup. It suggests that “Clean Air” was possible only in a different future. This old man, with gas mask, isn’t optimistic, having been witness to man’s disregard for the environment for a long, long, long time. Bengal Tigers Critically Endangered The Bengal tiger, or Royal Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris or Panthera tigris bengalensis) is a subspecies of tiger primarily found in Bangladesh, India, and also Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and southern Tibet. The white bengel tiger is not an albino, it has blue eyes. The white coat and light features are caused by a recessive gene. Very few survive in the wild because they do not have the ability to camoflauge themselves in their suroundings. Sadly, there are those who breed them for their exotic looks all for money. Because they occur so rarely, many orange tigers die or are mistreated in the process. Tigers are solitary hunters. They love the water, and are not afraid to chase their prey down into the water. In fact, this is how tigers often get food. The wait for an animal to be drinking at a water hole, then scares the animal into the water, where the tiger will chase it farther into deeper waters, making it easier to catch. Tigers have retractable claws. This enables them to walk through rocky, grassy, muddy, or sandy areas without dulling their claws, which they need to hunt with. Comments about this work This shot was underexposed with a great deal of noise. I thought it too precious to delete, so I worked it like crazy with filters, colorizing, etc. I’m rather happy with the outcome considering it was otherwise headed for the recycle bin. Highly edited!

Oils on canvas board 16” x 20” 2009 / Commission – SOLD The unicorn holds many secrets: / the secrets of jungles and moonlight; / the secrets that lie hidden at the roots of trees / and conceal themselves in coral labyrinths / beneath the ocean. / I look deep into its amber eyes / and see my own reflection, / but altered in line and light, / as if in a dream. / / (Words by Josephine Bradley) Here it is at last, the commissioned work for Trudi. Her two / lovely Irish Connemara ponies Abbey & Shannon painted as / unicorns. This was Trudi’s wish. The work was a combination of two photos taken by Trudi, / who we all know is a very talented photographer. The background is Kirks Reservoir Park in Ballarat, Victoria / & was a perfect setting for these gorgeous girls. Their horns were created from a lovely spiral shell which / was a gift to me recently, it was just perfect for reference. / I’ve been searching for a suitable poem to go with this / painting & finally found one. / Thank you so much Trudi, I hope the painting brings you / much enjoyment & a little bit of magic.
