My intention when I did this painting was to take an everyday situation – like looking out for the post-man and turning it into a vibrant and alive moment in time! / No matter how small and trivial things may seem – there is always something else going on: one just has to take a look at that poor fish! I lik this painting, my friends say it makes them feel like ”...putting on their dancing shoes!” / (It’s a frustrating fact, but for some reason this painting just won’t upload to the right proportions – it’s living it’s title to the full – and just NOT conforming!) The Gyoto Monks of Tibet are an often seen sight at many cultural events in the Byron Bay region. Seen here laughing, this particular monk escaped Tibet into India 50 years ago with His Holiness, The Dali Lama. Funky Cats is one i did a while ago when my focus was on the animal kingdom, this was in response to the Cheshire Cat from Alice…...he always intrigued me that fellow…...can you see his smile? These cats are from the ‘Friends Series’ by Karin Taylor…..Funky Cats is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper incorporating the use of ink, pastel, acrylics and charcoal….simultaneously :) My father has created a Chesire Cat smile in his garden which is strung in between two trees…..he also has made sculptures such as the Tin Man and many others in his garden of bits n pieces he finds at the Garbage Dump…...a man of many talents, he plants bonsai trees in white ceramic toilet bowls to display as works of art in his garden
