I have been waiting for this kind of shot for a long time. The storms were fierce with a ton of rain last night. I decided to take of work and spend the day at the falls near my house. I must have snapped 200 pictures today. What a great day!! I found a new toy its my infrared lens. Of course I have many different shots just like this :-) I posted a photo in color as well at a different time called – Approaching / Autumn / ....................................................................................................................... / / ....................................................................................................................... / Click to View By Category: / - Waterfall Photos / - Selective Coloring / - Infrared Photos / - Black and White Photos / - Animal Photos / ............................................................................................................... / / ................................................................................................................ /

The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site

What do you call the light that permanently imprints itself into the deepest corner of your cerebral real estate? Just a memorable one, divine, sublime? The star was going down fast, as it was just a matter of ‘to get it over and done with‘ a daily sunset routine – until that moment. Like it was switched on by some all powerful hand residing somewhere in the center of a kingdom of light, the sunbeam reached across the valley, bringing all the associated attributes with it, like joy and warmth, just for a few moments, before disappearing altogether. The blue cold haze drowned the beautiful Hawkes Bay valley, but not before the last ray of sun got there first. I was standing in awe … for a while in fact, still in disbelief. Review button and LCD screen confirmed it did happen. Sweet. I’ll treasure selfishly the melody of breeze passing through the treetops, the smell of golden grass and feel of fallen leafs under my feet. Not to worry, I left something to share with you. Here it is.

Ok, so this isn’t official, just a bit of fun on my part ;) I’m a MASSIVE Storm Thorgerson fan, the guy is my hero. / Look him up, you’ll understand. / stormthorgerson.com This is actually an image that will be used in David Lampard’s production of ‘Elegies: A Song Cycle’.. well, the balloons that is. The pig I added purely because I thought it smacked of Floyd, and it just had to be done. So here, just for you guys, is the silly version. The real pig-less version can be seen on my dA account here And if you’re interested in getting tickets to the production, please follow that link to the deviantART version as all the info is listed there. Digital composite of several shots taken at the same time as the balloons were released. Took a bloody long time to edit, but there are no repeats and it’s all my own work, save for the pig ;) Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas Oh and Mr Gilmour, if you’re watching, my rates are verrrrrry reasonable ;)

Something a little different from me here. A3 shot HDR of the old Convent, Penola Road Mt Gambier this afternoon with powerful stormy clouds in the background. When processing this the effects were quite different than my normal HDR’s but I liked the outcome even though it is almost comic book style. Thought I’d throw it up here for comment both good and bad to see what others think. Not something I’d like to do often but the different style interested me. Canon 400D – 18- 55 lens at 22 CIR polarising filter, processed in Photomatix.

Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps

Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.

If you’re ever driving down the 405 and pass the Irvine hills, which used to be lush and filled with cattle, take a trip off sand canyon and hike your way up the hills….definitely recommended around 4pm. Destination: Irvine Hills, California It was a really gloomy day out and i could just tell that if I shot I would have to add some serious contrast in photoshop. There were barely any clouds in the sky, I forgot my polarizer ( I know!! scold me!!) and the timing just didn’t seem right. I became discouraged at first and didn’t want to shoot but dammit….I’m a photographer…..I can MAKE clouds. also this was originally an HDR, but I’m not a big fan of the high luminance most HDR images have, so I added some stuff to the image.

I saw some pictures of these boats on another site and I had to go there to capture them in infrared. It was well worth the hour long drive.
