One of my most enduring memories of my recent trip to West Papua. Great scenery, friendly locals, warm water…..and cold beer!

An origami canoe; this is an easy piece to make but quite fun. If you rub crayon on the underside it will float on water.

Reflections of summer and of how I enjoy the simple things in life. Just a quiet summer sunset on the 4th of July before the fireworks. A quiet place in time just to have to reflect on how I wish it to be for my life. Much slower.
Have you ever seen a canoe on wheels? No? I’m not surprised! Until my dad invented this cart, we hadn’t either! What you’re seeing is two motorcycle tires/wheels with an axle in between them…on that axle is screwed a wooden platform which has a groove running ‘long ways’ for the bottom of the canoe to rest in. Several tie straps later, we have a canoe cart that can be used to pull/push our canoe to our favorite lake (pictured here), which can be reached by two miles on a gated closed road! We load it up with our camping gear (and occasionally a small child!) and everyone pitches in to ‘manpower’ the canoe and items to the lake. We have immeasurable amounts of wonderful memories, due in part to this great cart (which can be doubled as a game cart when the platform is flipped upside down and a handle screwed onto the one end of it!).
