The dense fog on Cockspur Island on saturday monring permeates the fort. So thick the moisture rolls off the cannon like rain drops. / One can get a sense of the tensions that fill the silent air during the civil war when the fog rolled in like this. The Signal Hill Tattoo is an internationally known award winning historical animation program. The Signal Hill Military Tattoo was first performed in 1967 as a local project in celebration of Canada’s Centennial year. With the exception of a three year lapse from 1967‑1971, the Tattoo performances have been a summer tradition in St.John’s. The Signal Hill Tattoo is performed each summer on O’Flaherty Field one of the sites where defenses were erected during the War of the Spanish Succession (1702-1713) ~ www.signalhilltattoo.ca

This photograph was taken on the battlefield named for “Picketts Charge”. / This field has alot of controvercial history to it. Many men died on this field in July of 1863.

this is the next of my current uploads of city buildings. All these images are straight from camera and all shot with film at around 35mm so just moderately wide angled. Getting the perfect balance of all the angles in a shot like this sort of work could also be known as crick in the neck photography…..

Every so often that little Panasonic TZ4 nails a shot. This completely unedited shot of the bunker house with the 7 foot thick walls, the bay and the bridge was one of a burst of 4 shots, all of them perfect. It’s the mid-range stuff that sucks with this pocket rocket. What you see in the water is rather rough surf. What you’ll see in a moment are some very brave or very stupid surfers out IN that surf. Kindly featured in Northern California Style and the San Francisco Group. :-)

well… it’s more of a slow shutter speed mixed wth me sweeping the camera to the left that is creating this look, but whatever… ;) the sunset at Cannon Beach, Oregon was just amazingly beautiful that day… thought I would do this just to show the colors… slight level correction in CS4 is all I did.
