  • Vote Green..
    by Andy Mercer

    US$3.71–US$74.10

Amazing what you find growing in the garden. Our area was the first in the country to elect “green” councillors.. they came in on their bikes.. wearing big woolly jumpers. I’ve no idea what they stand for.. but any party that advocates primary colours gets my vote ;) I will probably vote “red” next time and “blue” the time after that. In the early days of green politics they supported legalising cannabis.. (maybe they still do) when my conservative mother in law went to vote she got it wrong and voted to legalise cannabis.. needless to say we have been reminding her about it ever since. I am also the founder of the “beige” party, our main policy is the total elimination of all none beige colours. Beige is the future. Beige will rule the world… we’ve nearly won on that already. Our deadly enemy is jade.. what use is the colour jade to anyone ? Come the revolution.. all jade will be banned. Maybe I should get out more.

  • Pesky Little Thing
    by Conrad Stryker

    US$3.42–US$28.50

This is kind of a sneak preview of a series I’m working on, entitled “Hash Dreams” or “Forays in Prohibited Art”. The fold in the middle of the image is intentional, as it’s part of the process involved in making these. Each piece not only contains but is essentially derived from marijuana resin, making it art that is technically illegal to possess or distribute in most countries, simply by virtue of the fact that it is partly comprised of one tiny little, effectively harmless, chemical. So far, I’ve been able to take this process in some pretty interesting directions. It’s alot like staring at clouds, really, waiting until the perfect image comes up. In that spirit, I’ve strived to maintain a sort of primitive art quality to most of these. Two or three look like straight up cave paintings. I don’t know why, really. I suppose it just rubs me the right way. Chalk pastels, one or two touches of black india ink, and marijuana resin on 9” x 11.75 ” white charcoal paper.

    close up of cannabis “buds”

  • Well… come the Great Day of Reckoning, there may be food shortages. Are you gonna be a whiner or a hunter?

  • I made this piece about a close friend of mine who became quite involved in drug use. At this time I began to see our friendship changing and fading, and it was very difficult for me to feel like I was loosing a special friend. The right hand side of the painting represents where the drugs are still fun, with bright colours and movement and discovery. The left hand side of the painting represents where the drugs are taking away from who she is and what she is; how she is loosing parts of herself. I also tried to show this not as a slow, calm process, but as clawing and grabbing parts of her away. After making this piece the two of us worked together and she has now calmed down some of the drug use and our relationship has almost gone back to normal. ** / I painted this piece with my hands onto a four-foot by four-foot piece of MDF. Acrylic on MDF/fiberboard 1 on 1

    Cannabis

  • are you the farmer? grower on Ginak Island, The Gambia you can read the full story of this photo trip here

  • Cannabis has the power to save the world, it is one of the most diverse plants known to man, yet its cultivation is surpessed in the western world even outlawed. WHY? Because it is also a threat to the ruling western powers, which are empowered by oil, and seem hellbent on destroying our planet in order to keep on surpressing the population.
