This one’s a little obscure outside Scandinavia. It’s a greeting for St. Lucia Day, which opens the Yuletide celebration in countries from the Netherlands to the Baltics. Traditionally, the eldest daughter of the family wakes early on December 13, dons a white dress with a red sash, and a wreath of lingonberry boughs and candles. She sings to wake the rest of the family, who then join her for a breakfast of buns and coffee. The candles refer to the fire which failed to consume Saint Lucy, and also offer a welcome glimpse of light in the middle of long, dark Scandinavian winters.

FOR MY LOVELY FRIEND. / PHIL DEAVES / ARTIST, LOVER OF LIFE AND FRIEND / YOU BEEN ON MY MIND! He found himself / In an alleyway / Behind 42nd street / Behind all the Plays and the Numbers / Behind the masks / Behind the fears / He met up with what was tender / He met up with what was real / He found himself singing / To a tune of his own chords / He found his dreams / where waiting / He found his dreams were / more, / Than a title of a job / A husband or / a Friend, / He found that beneath the surface / Was a whole and perfect man, / Who follows the goodness of the day / Who follows a heart that paves the way / Today is all he need to feel, / And Now is all that seals the deal / So he began to follow his thoughts that feel / FOR REAL!! / For Real Good / for Real Nice / for Real life is full of / Paradise!! / Wow that day in the alleyway / He found a man whos own guidance / is just one best thought away…
