for the april showers challenge in MIA Melanie: “At Woodstock, I went on right after Ravi Shankar. There were a lot of clouds and it looked like it was going to rain. I thought good, then I won’t have to play. I was scared to death. It was a lot of people. So I thought if it rained, I wouldn’t have to play. No such luck. The MC had made an announcement during Ravi’s set, I think, about candles being passed out and something about how lighting the candles would keep away the rain.” have a listen candles in the rain
eirian-stock.deviantart.com / kittd-stock.deviantart.com Dedicated to Susan Boyle There was a time when men were kind, / And their voices were soft, / And their words inviting. / There was a time when love was blind, / And the world was a song, / And the song was exciting. / There was a time when it all went wrong… I dreamed a dream in time gone by, / When hope was high and life, worth living. / I dreamed that love would never die, / I dreamed that God would be forgiving. / Then I was young and unafraid, / And dreams were made and used and wasted. / There was no ransom to be paid, / No song unsung, no wine, untasted. But the tigers come at night, / With their voices soft as thunder, / As they tear your hope apart, / And they turn your dream to shame. He slept a summer by my side, / He filled my days with endless wonder… / He took my childhood in his stride, / But he was gone when autumn came! And still I dream he’ll come to me, / That we will live the years together, / But there are dreams that cannot be, / And there are storms we cannot weather! I had a dream my life would be / So different from this hell I’m living, / So different now from what it seemed… / Now life has killed the dream I dreamed…
‘Tranquil is my Gaze’ was inspired by some images I photographed on a recent mini-break to the country. I’ve had the idea for a little while to blend these images together and this is what presented…. / This existence of ours is as transient as autumn clouds. / To watch the birth and death of human beings is like looking at the movements in a dance… / Buddha
i love the lessons that bring me to where time stands still- / where i can be in a moment that has no end… / one that feels like beautiful beginnings, but forever in time. as i look more to the stillness of the calm. .......i love to photograph moments where i hear the lessons and share the depth of why. i took this shot early in the morning before the light of day came in the windows….i set the lens to be looking thru a favorite peace of wood i have and used a small penlight to offset the diffused flash…. and this is the outcome… smiling….
Still life, using you guessed it, candle light for lighting. :) I needed the warm tones to set the mood ;) Kwinana Western Australia Olympus E-410
Into The Night Like a gift from the heavens / It was easy to tell / It was love from above / That could save me from hell / She had fire in her soul / It was easy to see / How the devil himself could be pulled out of me / There were drums in the air / As she started to dance / Every soul in the room keeping time with their hands And we sang a, away, away, away / And the voices rang like the angels sing / And singing a, away, away, away / And we danced on into the night / And we danced on into the night Like a piece to the puzzle that puzzle into place / You could tell how we felt from the look on our faces / We were spinning in circles with the moon in our eyes / No room left to move inbetween you and I / And we forgot where we were / And we lost track of time / And we sang to the wind as we danced through the night And we sang a, away, away, away / And the voices rang like the angels sing / And singing a, away, away, away / And we danced on into the night / And we danced on into the night / And we danced on into the night Like a gift from the heavens / It was easy to tell / It was love from above / That could save me from hell / She had fire in her soul / It was easy to see / How the devil himself could be pulled out of me / There were drums in the air as she started to dance / Every soul in the room keeping time with their hands And we sang a, away, away, away / And the voices rang like the angels sing / And singing a, away, away, away / And we danced on into the night / A, away, away, away / And the voices rang like the angels sing / And singing a, away, away, away / And we danced on into the night / A, away, away, away / A, away, away, away / Singing a, away, away, away / And we danced on into the night Nickelback
This photo is straight from the camera, or As Is Featured in the ImageWriting group / Featured in the Male Photographer group Recently, my wife and I have been working on clearing out the house she grew up in and lived for much of her life. We have been sorting through boxes and bags, in drawers and wardrobes. There have been many things that bring back lovely memories and things which have been able to paint pictures and piece puzzles together of the family history. On one of these occasions, my wife came across some old letters that were written by her father and her mother, to each other before they were married. Just reading through them brought a smile to my wife’s face. Many were kept and passed on to her father, whilst others sadly had to be discarded, but I have taken this photo to keep alive the nostalgic memories of the letters and the love they hold within them. When I learned the song Au Claire de la Lune I was 9 years old and in my mind I saw this image very clearly. I guess I didn’t want the candle to be dead and I suppose I mixed up the candle and the death and the letter writing and the moonlight and love and princesses and all the other things little 9 year old girls think about into one colorful image. I’m really happy to be able to “see it for real” now. Corel Painter Essentials 4. / /
I wasn’t happy with previous version – and so I reworked in aperture and psd I tried to evoke as much emotion as possible—thru colors and light. Note – I also changed the title from “Abandoned” to “Not Abandoned” because truly I know that I am never left entirely alone to endure these trials. The cross on the wall is known as the “Cross of San Damiano” – (google it for significance). / I was blessed to have prayed before the real one in Italy… what an experience. photographer: Michael McKinney / model: myself
No more champagne / And the fireworks are through / Here we are, me and you / Feeling lost and feeling blue / It’s the end of the party / And the morning seems so grey / So unlike yesterday / Now’s the time for us to say… Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have a vision now and then / Of a world where every neighbour is a friend / Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have our hopes, our will to try / If we don’t we might as well lay down and die / You and I Sometimes I see / How the brave new world arrives / And I see how it thrives / In the ashes of our lives / Oh yes, man is a fool / And he thinks he’ll be okay / Dragging on, feet of clay / Never knowing he’s astray / Keeps on going anyway… Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have a vision now and then / Of a world where every neighbour is a friend / Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have our hopes, our will to try / If we don’t we might as well lay down and die / You and I Seems to me now / That the dreams we had before / Are all dead, nothing more / Than confetti on the floor / It’s the end of a decade / In another ten years time / Who can say what we’ll find / What lies waiting down the line / In the end of eighty-nine… Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have a vision now and then / Of a world where every neighbour is a friend / Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have our hopes, our will to try / If we don’t we might as well lay down and die / You and I / / / Created with Incendia, Apophysis & PSP
