The remaining ruins at Chichen Itza in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, are a tribute to the complexity and advancement of the Maya empire. The grounds hold multiple ruins that are now considered the 7th wonder of the world. Truly worth the trip to this area, these ruins are an experience of a life time.

Cancun is an unusual city in that it is surrounded by water but is not an island. The resorts are on a narrow strip of land that leads up to Cancun. Every direction you look there is water. The Caribbean is a bright blue color with strips of green. Destroyed or damaged from hurricane Wilma, this pier in Cancun Mexico was closed for the publics safety. As in my case, I took the liberty to get at least a couple of pictures of it at sunset while staying away from the hotel bar and lobby.

8” x 10” watercolour This is my wife, Barbara and myself while in Cancun, Mexico. Barbara actually accused me of altering my appearance some. She asked where the gray was and noticed the my belly was a bit smaller. I replied that this was “artistic enhancement.” She replied that it was OK, because I needed more “artistic enhancement” than she did.

I just love the way this restaurant was sitting on this little island in the middle of a giant shopping center surrounded by the canal. They had gondola’s that took you around to take in the breath taking view. We did eat at the restaurant but the gondola rides were not running.
