Applying a roll up and printing. Traghetto (plural: traghetti) means “ferry” in Italian. On Venice’s Grand Canal, traghetti are the passenger boats that cross the canal at seven points between the railroad station and St. Mark’s Basin.

Seemingly ever watchful on the Venice’s Grand Canal these Gondolas seem to be on guard for income tourist as the morning mist starts to disappear in to the day.

Storm signals off the coast of Venice as I travel to my hotel in a water taxi and view one of the most memorable events of my trip white light coming through a wall of gray clouds creating a visual effect on a small island off of Venice.

For me, the essence of Venice is captured in this shot, the constant sound of lapping water, the clip, clap of shoes on the stone pavement, diverse architecture and the gondolas tied up at the end of the day, but although the music ceases momentarily on the canals it will soon begin again behind costumed and masked performers inside a beautifully maintained Opera house or Church. To really feel the magic of Venice it is essential to stay for a while and wander the maze of pathways and bridges until you find a breathtaking “vista” of your own!
