Mount Robson Provincial Park This is MountRobson…The peak of Mount Robson is the highest in the Canadian Rockies, towering 12,972 feet (3954 m) over the western entrance to the park. As well as occupying a portion of the Main (Park) Ranges of the Rockies, the park, one of the oldest in British Columbia, also contains the headwaters of the Fraser River

I have been told that this shot is rarely captured, due to the frequency of the winds around this area. My Aunt and My Grandmother have tried for years and never had the opportunity to capture this Mountain and its mirrored image before. / I have been back several time time to take more shots but the water was too choppy, I was fortunate with this one.

Banff National Park is Canada’s oldest national park, established in 1885, in the Canadian Rockies. / The park is located in the province of Alberta and encompasses 6,641 square kilometres of mountainous terrain, numerous glaciers and ice fields. / The landscape is vast and hard to describe in a few words but “breathe taking” would sum it up quite well! / This image was taken whilst driving through the nearly deserted mountainous passes and always reminds me of what it was like to see each peak for the first time; turning every bend in the road and just being speechless. / You get completely immersed in the history of the area and can’t help but think about all the pioneers who carved the way before you. It is a humbling experience to be there and makes you so thankful you have had a chance to see it. Nb: Just to clarify, i wasn’t driving when i took this image…. Paul was!!!! I was trying to grab a shot whilst his hands where firmly on the steering wheel. Safety first people! HAHA! Canon XTI rebel, 10 – 20mm lens @ 11mm, 1/40 sec, F/11, Grad filter. Processing in CS3

Another of my Kananaskis (foothills of the Rockies) shots. It was one of those days where every shot was gold-plated. / Minor exposure adjustment only.

This shot was taken high up on Boulder Mountain, BC, Canada during a snowmobiling day. Close to the Revelstoke National Park and looking out onto the mightly Canadian Rockies. Such an awesome view and fields of waist deep powder snow…heaven!!

Now this IS my desktop photo and is one of my favorites, obviously. / I just wish I had taken this at a higher resolution. / The Kananaskis is the foothills area of the Rockies southwest of Calgary Alberta. There is a wonderful road from Longview to Canmore which has some of the most spectacular and available scenery for shutterbugs. A sunny day is just a recipe for a wonderful day of photography.

We visited this popular lake in Banff national park on a cool day a few weeks ago. There weren’t many people and the water wasn’t too choppy, so i took advantage of the rich fall colours, the beautiful water, and the clouds and the results are very close to what you see here, very little post-processing needed!

Bow River, Alberta. Canada / March, 2008 Taken just round the corner from the frozen Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada on our recent road trip through the Rockies… Having researched this river a little bit lately and seen a few photos taken by others in summer of a wide fast flowing body of water, I get the feeling that we were actually stood in the middle of the river during this shoot!

November 11,2006, driving through an early winter squall from Calgary to Banff National Park, in the Rocky Mountains. Caught sight of the mountain and stopped to wait until the wind and clouds gave me the view I was looking for. Very cold, but I managed to get several that I liked. I think this one is the best.

A capture of the absolutely beautiful water of the third of the four picklejar lakes in the Canadian Rockies, this view made the very challenging hike worth every step and scary scramble over the shale. This is pretty close to the original shot, just upped the contrast and adjusted the colours in Photoshop.

Well that is what this area used to be called…the land in and around Glacier National Park. However with all the snows melting those days might be over! I was shocked to see how much of illecillewaet glacier had receded. I had climbed up to the tongue of the glacier 20 years ago and now you have to climbe hundreds more feet to reach where the tongue of the glacier is now. / / /

This spot in the Canadian Rockies is absolute eye-candy for photographers in autumn. I was out to capture the blue-green water, purple-blue rocks and golden-bright september foliage this past week, now that the tourist crowds have subsided. (and before winter kills all the colour for us poor canucks.) These falls on the Elbow river are located about 20 mins past my home in the southern Albertan foothills; they make a nice quick excursion on a slow day round the house.
