This was a night of fun… experimenting with my camera… there are no Photoshop works here either… it is as is… :) Enjoy… :)
I did this painting in very thick acrylics. I thought of the Fancy Dance competition with all their regalia then decided to use color theory in their dance outfits so the battle is just not in the dance but in the colors.
Disclaimer: this is NOT a political message… if I would want to make one, I would be far more direct and explicit… this is a simple play with semantics. I intend to use art as an expression of political views, but not at this time, nor this venue. I lived in a communist regime for more than 30 years, so I know it inside out… yet, have no hate, nor regrets, just understanding of my journey as a free man in a not-so-free-world… but then again, who’s to say what freedom is… until you don’t have it… / /
A beautiful thought / just occurred to me… only to be gone / before I could lock it / in my memory. Now it is flying free, / free for the taker… only if you could See it / then, you might be able to catch it. —-—-- / / / / /
The ruins of the Redcliff Radar Station. All the buildings are now crumbling and in ruin. The station has been abandoned since 1961. Radar operators in the AC&W Squadron tracked the movements of aircraft sighted and passed speed, height and direction information to a Direction Centre (DC) and fighter interceptor squadrons. Fighter aircraft could be airborne in minutes after an alarm was given, and they closed in on unidentified planes by means of direction provided by the radar operators. Another of the Red Cliff functions was furnishing navigational aid to friendly aircraft operating in the area. Their detection of May-Day calls contributed to quick search and rescue efforts. / More in this series / / / / / / / / / / / / /

This is a macro of the inside of a flower, but please don’t ask me which one because I have no idea what it was. LOL Scott said it looked like candy corn so the name was born. Candy corn for those of you that don’t know is a rocket ship shaped candy that is three different colours; red, yellow, and white I do believe. For those of you that may wonder, I did not manipulate this photo in any way other than to crop a bit off to get this to RB dimensions.

One of my twins in front of the same building as seen in another one of my pictures titled, “Hideaway”. Considering the colors, I was trying to get a happy shot. However, he was upset because he wanted to go take pictures of a baby gopher with his own camera. I told him to just act as he felt and snapped this shot. Well, that is, after he said “This is the last one, Mom. Then I’m done”. Sometimes you have to let them call the shots. ;)

Featured in the Woman Photographer August 6, 2009 Female Northern Cardinal image taken on my property, in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada on August 5, 2009. Male mate to this lovely female. / Canon EOS Rebel XTi with 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens @ 320mm. SS 1/125, f/5.6, EC -1/3, ISO 400 (How it turned out with this shutter speed, through a window, AND hand held is beyond me!...lol) Tonal adjustments completed in Digital Photo Professional & PShop. Northern Cardinal info. courtesy of Wikipedia. The Northern Cardinal is a mid-sized songbird with a body length of 20-23 centimeters long and a wingspan of 25–31 centimeters. It weighs about 45 grams. The male is slightly larger than the female. The male is a brilliant crimson red with a black face mask over the eyes, extending to the upper chest. The color is dullest on the back and wings. The female is fawn, with mostly grayish-brown tones and a reddish tint on the wings, the crest, and the tail feathers. The face mask of the female is gray to black and is less defined than that of the male. Both sexes possess prominent raised crests and bright coral-colored beaks. Mated pairs sometimes sing together before nesting. During courtship they may also participate in a bonding behavior where the male collects food and brings it to the female, feeding her beak-to-beak. If the mating is successful, this mate-feeding may continue throughout the period of incubation. The oldest wild Cardinal banded by researchers lived at least 15 years and 9 months. Grand Lake, Algonquin Park Ontario, CANADA / September 26th 2009 / Nikon D40, Nikkor VR 55-200mm lens / The Orton Effect If I could paint I think I would like to work on impressionistic landscapes like this. A mixture of fall color, rain and fog. There is something mystical and magical about nature under these circumstances, and the soft gentle rain which brings out all the colors and softens all the edges.
