  • “Often, the best opportunity comes unexpectedly. I was observing two pretty ponies and taking photographs on their sweet faces. Suddenly, several crows arrived and started to fly in circles. As one of them took a meal in the beak, the others started chasing her. / / Spontaneity is the key in portraying animated subjects at their best. I captured the expressiveness of this beautiful crow when she made a quick turn upwards spreading her magnificent wings against an overcast autumnal sky.” / / / Image and text © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / Artist statement: My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. • “Quietly lying by her barn, this pretty ewe made me stop my bicycle ride to pay her a visit. In a placid cool afternoon, she greeted me with a sweet glance and a calm disposition. Her face was beautiful and her eyes melted my heart. Surrounding a sea of amber and golden hues, her long white eyelashes framed surprisingly bright eyes. / / Taking close-ups on her adorable face, a rainbow of colours and patterns unveiled: the iris wore fine lines defining a gradient of rich earth colours. Her eyes sparked like jewels. When I bade her good-bye, she quietly turned her head towards me in what I took as a kind invitation to visit her once again. “ / / / Image © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-— / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. • “Which one is prettier?. Which one has the most intricate design?. Which one is redder?. It is impossible to talk in superlative terms when each pumpkin is of extreme beauty and originality. / / This vast array at a farmstand made me spend hours rejoicing in the striking beauty of these simple yet graceful round, whimsical plants.” / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. • May my thoughts be like a poppies’ field…

  • Rome is a magnificent city… and one well and truly discovered by the group tour operator! It can be difficult to experience and capture a personal and yet still quintessential Roman moment, but that is what I feel I was able to do here in the Campo de’ Fiori. Whilst the bicycle dominates the picture, there is an interesting collage of colours, words and objects all supporting this main cast member.

  • as is fuji finepix S8100 This site has all the species of breeding seabirds of the Azores but the Manx Shearwater. The only known site with breeding records for the Bulwer’s Petrel and the Sooty Tern. This last species only have breeding records in Europe here and in the Selvagens islands in the Madeira archipelago. In some years had the largest colony of terns in the archipelago. As a curiosity, in this island only the ‘cold-period’ population of the Madeiran Storm Petrel can be found. / / /

  • 1.994 – 1.997 ENGLISH The promoter Campo Volantín S.L. was the catalyst that brought to contest the construction of a bridge over the river Nervión not far from the site where it is located today the prestigious Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the work of another renowned architect, Frank O. Gehry. The main feature of the project was also agreement that the bridge would be high enough to let ships pass under his bottom. Santiago Calatrava, who won the project, designed a breathtaking runway thanks to the great parabolic arch of steel bent and split across the bridge from side to side. The steel arch with a circular section of 50 cm. thickness reaches a final height of 15 meters. The gateway, with a total length of 75 meters rises to 8.5 meters high with respect to its high water to make way for vessels flying their underpass. Two ramps in two tranches of 2 meters wide each with a slope of 7%, saving the high slope that provides the bridge to cross from one side to another. Tensioned wires of 30 mm. in diameter, are anchored to the arch of an immaculate white for the support of the striking gateway. The architect gave to this footbridge and innovative modern design by using a material with beautiful colors, translucent glass, and together with the artificial lighting by means of staying under the dashboard lights, produce every night a unique visual spectacle and truly spectacular .
