shot this at 7 am in the morning in a busy beirut street … the shot makes me forget how crowded it can be here … I love the look on most ppl’s faces when i tell them i shot it next to the office … / I guess rushing to work and rushing back home, we don’t have time to stop and smell the roses. / I hope it reminds them to look around every now and then :)

This is a Lantana camara thaI took for the fact that it is so small. The big flower is the size of a quarter and the little ones at top are a little smaller than a dime. Plus the fact that I saw after I uploaded it from camera to PC, that it looks like a face and hand waving. ;) Nikon D200 / AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm ED VR / AF Nikkor 35-80mm / f/11 / exp. time 1/30 sec. / ISO 125 / metering – spot / Saturation High / Sharpness – hard / res – 3782×2592

Dancing like miniature kites in the breeze today, they landed only for moments on this pink and yellow Lantana camara that is still blooming pretty well, even here in north Florida. This Zebra longwing, the state butterfly of Florida, had it’s picture taken in my back yard, in Columbia County, just south of Lake City. This is perhaps also one of the largest Lantan camara plants I’ve ever seen. Easily 8 feet tall and spreading over 10 feet in longest diameter. It survived the freeze last spring and returned bigger than ever. this one is yellow with mature flowers being pink. I have the usual yellow ones that mature red, they froze back and have been very slow to return, most that were in the four foot range last year, are hardly three foot high and with many fewer blooms.
