  • Sailboat anchored on Lake Michigan in the evening haze. Calm waters allowed a perfect reflection.

  • Stop and relax. Let your mind and body slow down. Reflect only on the cool peaceful things. Close your eyes and think of only the sound of the stream. The leaves resting on their journey to nowhere. The coolness of the air on your skin. Let the beat of your heart slow. • It was a quiet Christmas for my husband and me, the first one we’ve spent alone in our 35 years of marriage and 58 years of life. We spent the last daylight hours of our Savior’s birthday at Lake Martin, in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, and this is the scene we viewed. I’ve named it Silent Night in the Deep South, a quiet ending to a quiet and peace-filled day.

  • Number three in the series. I am fascinated by the rocks along this stretch of beach. It’s amazing how many times you can shoot the same objects using different compositions. Canon EOS 5D / Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM / Cokin Z-Pro Z121S ND8 Grad filter 1 sec, f/14, ISO50, 17 mm

The house is typical of many found on the eastern frontier in the mid-1850s, and reflects the skills and techniques brought into the mountains by descendants of British and European immigrants…..Split-rail fences require much more timber than other types of fences, and so are not common in areas where wood is scarce or expensive. However, they are very simple in their construction, and can be assembled with few tools even on hard or rocky ground. They also can be built without using any nails or other hardware; such hardware was often scarce in frontier locations. These fences are sometimes refered to as Worm Fence due to the back and forth placements…This cabin is located on the Cades Cove Loop Road, in the Great Smoky Mountain N.P.
